My dad's 360 lasted for 2 years as well until it got the rrod. His warranty was still intact though so it got repaired and sent back with no money involved. I wouldn't say that its rare for you to have a 360 for 2 years and it getting the rrod but...who knows?
Mine lasted from day one until a couple months ago before it died. Thankfully they made the RROD a 3 year warrenty coverage. Mine will be up on my first console soon.
Mine lasted since launch until this past March. So about 2 and a half years. I sent it in, and the system I got back now makes a loud grinding noise whenever it is booting up. I hope it breaks soon because now I have a new warrenty ;)
mine lasted bout 2 1/2 yrs. I know for a fact id leave my 360 on for 4 hrs + sometimes. so i did play my part. people that take better care of the system will more likely avoid the rrod longer.
no its not rare, I still have my dec 06 xbox. Itll probably die a a week after I get back from the USA (I live in argentina) and I ll have thrown $500 down the drain with all the games and accesories Im gonna get when Im up there in a couple of weeks
