Are u the premium or core 360(s)? I myself got a core and upgraded it for less that the premium and haven't experienced any problems. But if u've been having both types break down on u , i'd say it's just rotten luck :(.

If my 360 breaks that many times, I would stop playing 360.

OK Dr. lets ask some questions here: 1) Where is your 360? 2) Is it horizontal or vertical? 3) Connected staright to the wall or via an extension lead? 4) Is it getting enough air - which is cold? 5) In direct sunlight? 6) A dusty area? 7) Do you have any younger brothers or sisters that use the machine? 8 ) How often do you play the 360? 9) Where is the power brick in relation to your 360? 10) Is it a core or premium? Be honest with your answers no one is here to flame you but not being correct or honest with your answers means we will have trouble pin pointing your issues with fail rate! I mean one maybe two going is bad but 5!!!

Ok i am one of the most carefull person with stuff that i payed bug money for. Like my systema airsoft gun. that is one of the most expsesive airsoft guns ever and i a take care of it perfectly. So i will tell you 100% truthfull answers. 1) on a 3 foot stand... 2) Laying down 3) its connected to $175.00 Moster power serge 4)I live in CA but if your looking at it from that front of the xbox the left side of the 360 is a foot from my tv, from the back it is a 1 foot 2in to the wall, and from the right 1 foot and 8in to my dresser. 5)NO, i have a currtin and shades 6) HELL no, my room is very clean becasue thats the only way my girl will come in my room. 7) No i am an only child 8.) summer time 4-5 hours a night after work. I work 40 hours a week, i play more airsoft then xbox 9) on the floor 10) My first xbox was a PRE. but when you sned your xbox to Microsoft you dont send the hard drive yousend jsut the 360 so they send you a core back. Core is the same as the Pre its jsut package names, trust me thats what every agent says when you call them up. There is no reason why this is happening to me. My friend has his PS2 on top of his 360 and its in glass case. he has no life and plays 10-15 hours a day. I think its bad luck or Karma

Also, power brick shouldn't be on the floor. Don't need to go the extent of hanging it from the ceiling (as some might tell you) just sit it on a ventalated shelf, so it doesn't collect dust/suffocate from the carpet.

And maybe you've just had bad luck, your 6 one might have no probs whatsoever. Either that, or try a Elite or the new Falcon ones (when they come out)

Also, it's possible your hardrive might cause it (very slim, but possible). If you're extremely mad, try wiping the whole thing and if it still persists, buy a new HD

Edit: The stand you have it on whats it made of? Metal? How hot does that get? Well honestly then it does just seem like bad luck the only things I can think of and well it's only cos it differs from mine are ... I don't use a power surge ... but paying $175 for such an item that should not be the problem, perhaps the power brick as others have suggested ... but mines on the floor and works fine ... have you ever put a thermometer on the 360 to see how hot it is running (does it differ from game to game??) ... apart from that you seem to be taking care of it, in fact more than mine LOL Oh and I don't think it's Karma ... unless you have been a bad, bad boy LOL What have MS said about this 1 maybe 2 is ok I guess but as many as you have had I would seriously start asking questions!!!

Jesus and to think that we have to go through all this micromanagement to play our 360's, its rediculous. in 20 years of gaming I have never seen a system like this, that breaks down so much. Should be basic, keep it clean and give it air, just like the other 7 generations of consoles and that SHOULD be enough but its not.

MS does put a more efficient DVD drive in the new repairs as well as another heat sink. So the newer repairs should be good to go. Although I just got my repair back (my eighth console) and after 2 days of barely playing it its already givng me tons of disc read errors. MS has already admitted that a huge amount are faulty, but there working on it.....supposedly, and if you get 3 red rings your covered for 3 years in that scenario.

Your not doing anything wrong..its not you its the console, MS themselves have already admitted to this. Just be patient or can the system. myself Im not sure what im gonna do cause 8 consoles breaking down is crazy. I have evn had the wiring checked at my house, and that was not cheap. Hopefully soon they get these things fixed for good.

What you are doing wrong is you keep buying the xbox360, seriously if my xbox gave me trouble like that id just go back to playing ps3. Mine only malfunctioned once , it would overheat constantly, exchanged it and haven't had problems since. I HaveTheCore System.

My fifth is breaking as well. Whats happening is the disk drive is taking so long to load the games that sometimes it takes minutes to just get to the menu. I can't even play Oblivion because of the loading, and Crackdown only loads half the city/cars. I also get many many unreadable disk errors. This is the dvd drive right? not overheating or anything?

P.S. 2000th post Wewt!

plugging your xbox 360 into the outlet in the wall is the best thing for your 360. My first xbox i had into a surge protector and it died. Two buddies of mine and my girlfriends brother all had theirs plugged into surge protectors and had them all die, then when i told them to put them into the wall directly they havent had a problem, and i havent had a problem with mine since. Also i don't know if you used the Intercooler for your 360. Some people swear by them when others don't.

lol. if thats what you call your friend, it maybe be the karma after all.

anyways. good luck with a new one. maybe you need to like give the console and power adapter a little more ventilation. thats all i can think of.

sounds like a case of the mundays. lol.

just bad luck and bad timing. supposedly they have the problem fixed so this should be your last time. when you talk to someone about it, make sure you are fairly compensated for it being your 5th. get a free controller or year of xbox live or something! i got a free controller after my 4th broke. you have to be the one to remind them.

When your first 360 broke you must of sent it back to get it repaired, so if your saying it broke again can you still send it back for repairs or do you have to buy a new one. I think once you have a console fixed by Microsoft its not going to have any more problems. So how have you gone through 5 explain please. Did you buy five 360s.
