Guys, I just can't tell you how truly pissed I am right now. A few months ago I had to send in my xbox360 to get replaced because of the 3 rings of death and 6 months before that I had to do the exact samething. The current system I have right now which is my third, has been acting really odd the past few days. I haven't been getting the 3 rings of death but the system has been freezing on me while playing games.

Today I finally called customer support and they had me do all the trouble shooting steps. After completing all those steps they came to the conclusion that my system is broken and in need of repair. I almost hit the roof when the told me! Not only is this the third system that has died on me, now I have to wait another 3-4 weeks to get a repaired one back!! I don't know what to do...I'm just sooo pissed!

I LOVE my xbox360 to death but I just can't keep going through all this crap. It's insane! Never in my life have I owned such a faulty piece of electronic equipment. I never thought I would say this but I really feel forced into a corner, and feel that I need to sell my xbox360 when I get it back, and either go with a Wii or PS3. I truly feel I have no other choice.

Before all this happened, I really had no desire to get a PS3 other than maybe for a blue ray player and had zero desire for a Wii. However, I feel I have no other choice. I'm just so pissed and sad in MS becauae I love my xbox360 but it was just sooo poorly put together and has just to many problems. I just don't have the time or energy anymore to deal with all of this. Any of you guys have any suggestions on what I should do? Please no fanboy crap!

Honestly, in your position, I would get a Wii ( no fanboyin) since it has a better library than the PS3 currently and has a way smaller chance of breaking. Plus, you wouldn't feel guilty having 2 systems since the Wii is a good secondary console to pass the time and Smash Brawl is coming out soon. However, the PS3 does share some 360 games you might like, and has the Blu-Ray, but the PS3 is $400, and a $60 game to buy with it.....I wouldn't do it. Other than that, wait a month......

get a wii to tide you over while your 360 is gone (repeatedly). i guess you just have bad luck. the wii is a great secondary system though, much better and more worth the investment than a ps3 which has many of the same games as the 360.

I feel ya, mine is in repair right now, could not imagine it happening 3 times though, thats sad. Microsoft has no one to blame but themselves, They just need to send out new systems instead of "fixed"ones.....

I got my first one when they first launched....very first night. That one lasted about a year. The next one last about 3 months. The one I have now has lasted about 2-3 months and now I have to send it in. This is just nuts. How can MS get away with doing this to customers? There has got to be some law or government agency that over looks these types of things.

Well all I can say is, Welcome to the club. I myslef am on my 5th 360,Crappy I know.. Currently Not one of my friends has ever had a 360 that is orginal. I.E. Brand NEW. But I have come to expect my 360 to die within a couple of months. Easier to deal with the massive frustraion from sending in and waiting for my 360, I would wager that I have spent more time waiting for my new 360 than I have ever playing it. Not going to recommed a system, as I dont want Flamage or an Admin message.

The PS3 is the superior of the two consoles. Not flaming, but speaking from experience. I just battled with the idea of trading in my 360 (i was ready to do it today) but decided that it just wasn't worth it. (Also, Lost Odyssey kept me on board). If you can afford it, get all 3 systems. If you can't, either stick it out with the 360 or sell it and pick up a PS3 or a Wii. I recommend both with every fiber of my being :)

On a side note, I'm on 360 #4, which is absolutely rediculous. Every console has been brand new, and each has had problems, save this last one. 4 consoles in 1 year is unacceptable. There are NO excuses that can justify it. I take better care of my systems than anyone else, the problem is the hardware. Anyone who insinuates otherwise is illinformed. If it weren't for a few exclusives and a rediculously low trade in value thanks to terrible hardware, it would have been gone long ago.

Its in the open and gets plent of air. But dude, come on What the heck did we all pay 399 bones for? For a system that we have to walk on egg shells around? This is nuts. If you look at the system the wrong way, it breaks. If you breath wrong, its breaks. If you don't give it a hug and kiss every night, it breaks. How come this doesn't happen with any of my other electronic equipment? This is not ethical or right on MS's part!

Thanks for the advice bro but I don't have that kind of money. Furthermore, if I did have that kinda of money I still wouldn't own all 3. I just dont play games that often. I like to be well rounded in my interests and If i owned all 3 systems I would turn into a hermit. Not good.

I have a PC, PSP, and DS in addition to that, but I'm no hermit! :) The trick is to only buy the best games for each :D But yeah, the 360 has fallen to the bottom of my list of next-gen console loves. It only took having a PS3 for a month to change my mind about it :) Might as well stick it out with the 360 though if you don't play many games, as it's almost worthless to trade it in.

Rushed product. Had to get the financial jump on the PS3 & Wii and so it was released a year earlier than them. I'm just glad my 360 didn't break yet.......

That's either a miracle or impossible. I'm sure 4 of them or more (33%) have had theirs fail, but can't admit it due to hardcore fanboyism (jk (but seriously, not jk)). Approximately 60% of the people I know who has had a 360 has had at least one failure, and that's from a pool of roughly 30 people.

You have to ask yourself this question; Would you put up with any other electronic device in your house that broke three times? Strike three. Its probably time to move on to something else.

If it works, gamestop only gives 150 bucks for a premium w/hdd and controller (and cables). You could maybe get 200-250 online, but that's a hassle imo.

I just dont have it in me anymore to deal with all of this crap every other month.

I got sick after returning my xbo360 twice. My suggestion, If you love your xbox360 to death, you can waste money like I did and trade it in for a xbox 360 with the new falcon chip. Much much cooler with less noise and lower power consumption.

But like Staryoshi said, try to get all 3 systems if you can.

[QUOTE="TarzanTheMan"]get a wii to tide you over while your 360 is gone (repeatedly). i guess you just have bad luck. the wii is a great secondary system though, much better and more worth the investment than a ps3 which has many of the same games as the 360.Staryoshi87

I have bad luck? lol. Are you kidding me? Eveyone that I personally know has had to send there system in at least once. I just dont understand how MS can feel good about selling us this system when they know there are problems with it. Pisses me off!

out of the 12 people i know that own an xbox 360, none have sent it in or had rrod/miscellaneous failures with it.

That's either a miracle or impossible. I'm sure 4 of them or more (33%) have had theirs fail, but can't admit it due to hardcore fanboyism lol. Approximately 60% of the people I know who has had a 360 has had at least one failure, and that's from a pool of roughly 30 people.

Same here. What my question is, how can MS get away with this? Isn't there a law that protect we the people? Its not right or ethica. Why isnt the government going after them?

get a ps3, it already has some good games and will have a lot more great ones this year. Or you can keep trying until you get a long lasting 360.

y having 2 systems since the Wii is a good secondary console to pass the time and Smash Brawl is coming out soon. However, the PS3 does share some 360 games you might like, and has the Blu-Ray, but the PS3 is $400, and a $60 game to buy with it.....I wouldn't do it. Other than that, wait a month......neversummer75

I'm just so fed up. I may just sell my xbox360 when I get it back and not get another system until the next xbox comes out. Maybe by then it will be built better. I'm just so frustrated right now.

I'll keep you in my prayers. Look up the Wii though, PM me with which type of games you like and I will tell you what the Wii has. Honestly, I don't know much about the PS3 that you already don't know about. Don't give up yet.

Because as long as they honor their warranty and no one dies from xbox failures (suicide doesn't count), they get off scott free, aside from the massive incursion of expenses. If people were SMART CONSUMERS (Yeah, like that's going to happen) they'd say "hey, the software isn't worth it unless they're willing to make more of an effort to fix their hardware" and stop buying 360s. Sadly, people have not yet learned this lesson (although many have). It's a shame so many people have been hypnotized by the swinging bologna. In retrospect I wouldn't just say that I would have wanted a PS3 last december when I got my 360, as the console pretty much sucked at that point whereas the 360 was in full swing, but if I could do it all over again I would have held off on the 360, bought a PS3 in the summer, and saved a large sum of money in the process :(

Ask yourself the following questions: 1. Can I continue to cope with this MS hardware BS? 2. What games do I actually want for the 360? (released or to be released) If your answer to #1 is no, then go elsewhere. If your answer to #2 is a very short list, examine the games coming out (or already released) for other systems that make you go "hey, that looks cool" and decide if it's worth it to change teams :)

The xbox 360 is the most poorly designed piece of hardware ever conceived then actually released to the public...

Microsoft stands behind the xbox and has the gaul to call it a quality system regardless of the 2,000,000 + broken consoles sitting in their repair facilities.

As a Xbox 360 owner you have to become accustomed to poor customer service and the consoles constantly breaking and making loud noises and scratching discs.

BTW, I'm on my 7th console....

well, if ya kids think about it, they started out with a chip that was crap and always gave the 3 rings of death. then they brought out the elite system with a new chip and started sneakin the chip in the halo console. i've had an elite for 8 months now and i've had no problems whatsoever.

I say just sell the 360 and get a Wii

Wii is more casual and I guess would help make gaming less worrisome (prob not a word). but if you REALLY dont like Wii games, your two options are to either just suffer through another 360 and perhaps get lucky or just sell it and go PC gaming!!

whatever choice you make, I wish you luck my friend

I'm getting the same feeling, and my box hasn't even broken. There are tons of issues with the 360 right now, specifically (for me) with xbox live. I've tried everything, I've called customer support and gone through all the motions but its still a major source of frustration. Maybe its just my box because all of my friends' boxes work just fine (even if they have been repaired) but I don't know how long I'm willing to put up with this. If my 360 were to break tomorrow, I don't know if I would rush out to get a new one. The problem is that I have invested so much in my console. Along with the regular console, I bought another controller, a bigger hard drive, and I have owned at least 15 games. We're talking about thousands of dollars here that I have invested into one single system. Even if the PS3 genuinly appealed to me (it doesn't really, not because i dislike it, just because the games are mostly the same to what I already have and the only thing that I really like is that it actually works) I probably wouldn't get it this late in the game just because it would be such a financial strain. So now I'm stuck with a system which I love when it works, but it rarely ever works.

ok. I trust you. However, you know darn well that the xbox360 was not built well.

yeah, it's a piece of garbage. tends to stall constantly and fork with me in other ways but i haven't had a fatal error

@staryoshi, maybe it's a miracle or maybe they don't admit it (unlikely because nobody's ever been offline for more than 5 or 6 days unless they go on vacation or get a new gamertag)

Invest in PC gaming then. Better online than Xbox live, free, and just a much better experience overall :P There is life outside of consoles and it can be found at a surprisingly reasonable price :D Just keep the damn 360, geesh :P From everythign you've said you really don't want to get rid of it.

Man I feel ya, I bought my box wen they first came out. I played it for about a good year, then I got those rings of death. And 3 weeks ago it happened to me again. I dont no if ur willing to try, but as a temporarily quick fix, wrap da box in 3 of largest towels u can find. But first plug in ur power supply and av cables. Now turn it on and let it run for about 15 - 25 mins. Then turn it off, unwrap it and let it cool for another 20 mins. U shood see the green rings again. I have used this method twice and it worked both times. But I called ms so I'm waitin for a damn box to come in. I would suggest u do this. My boy bought one. On the first day wen the first time he turned it on those rings came on. I told him about the towels he tried it and worked for him too. I saw this on youtube. The box will get hot tho. The purpose is to over heat it. It has something to with the solder ms uses. Jus keep in a nice open area. Good luck man.

I'm not sure if you would want to do this, but you could just sell your onld one when you get it back from MS, and then buy a new one with a falcon chipset, you would lose money on the deal, but would end up with a much more reliable system. You would also get an HDMI port. I suspected from the beginning that MS would add HDMI, and that was the main reason for me waiting to get a 360, and now I'm glad I did, since I haven't had to deal with all this RROD stuf.
