My HD transfer cable isnt working

So I finally got a 360 slim today. I bought a transfer cable a couple weeks ago off ebay and it dosent seem to be working. I found a youtube video on how to use it and apparnetly when you hook it up the 360 is supposed to recgonize the cable and start the transfer process but nothing is happening. Am I doing something wrong or did I just get screwed on ebay again?

why do you three have the same icon? but back on topic, is your transfer cable a 3rd party cable or a Microsoft one? because if its third party, you've just destroyed your HD if yuo've connected it to your console.

the only way to transfer your files then is to connect your 3rd party cable to your PC, transfer the files there and move them to a Flash drive (must be 8gb or more).

then you transfer the files from the flash drive to the console

this is assuming you have a 3rd party cable

use a usb stick straight from the console to the other

Thanks for the help, I just went to gamestop and bought an official Microsoft cable and it worked fine. Thought I was getting a deal on ebay with only spending 15 bucks, oh well live and learn lol.
