I see what you're saying babiesfeet. It's frustrating and upsetting that they want to charge you for DLC as soon as the game was released. I too feel that is a cheap way to try and get people to spend extra money on content that should've been included with the game to begin with.
However, say you only buy the regular game. No Limited Edition or Collector's Edition game. I mean if you're downloading content from XBox Live that is only included in the LE game then that is ok. (ie Fable 2's new dungeons and armor that are exclusive for Limited Edition Fable 2) If that makes any sense.
Yes, it annoys me to no end when a game comes with a ton of content on the disk you have to pay extra for on the day of release via dlc.
There have been a couple of games recently that had dlc released the same day the game hit stores. The dlc was 160kb.. meaning it was just a code allowing you to access content already on the disk.
does anybody esle get PO'd when they buy a game on release and you go on your dashboard and xbox is advertising DLC for it even though it JUST came out?! The publisher of a game that does this could at least have the decency to put all the content they created on the disc you buy for sixty dollarsbabiesfeet
Most games have been completely finished months before they are selling at the retail level. This is because of marketing, shipping games to retailers, time to manufacture the game, etc.
By the time they have shipped the games and they are finally for sale (like I said, sometimes months after they are finished), they have already added some things that would make the game better or build on the story, etc. Thus they have the DLC on release day! This gives everyone all the opportunity to get the most out of their game by having the option to pick up anything that was added to the game or anything that makes the game better, longer, or whatever available to them when the game is on retail shelves.
I'd much rather have my game come out earlier then months later than I've already had to wait, and be able to pick up the DLC if I so choose! Besides the DLC is optional and I'm happy for it, it's a choice whether you buy it and I'd rather have companies put out there extra bit of work for a brilliant game than hold onto it and never let it see the light of day! I remember all of the stuff that was left out in KOTOR 2, now I know there are mods for the PC version, but if you stuck with xbox you had to deal with the fact that Obsidian had a deadline to stick with and ended up cutting a crap load of extra content many people would have killed for! If there had been downloadable content, they could have put out all of it the time the game was ready to come out and everyone wouldv'e been happy!
There is no reason to real bad reason for the content to come out when it does, as long as it is put out there, instead of being keptin the dark (as in some games like KOTOR 2), then we should all be happy with the fact that we have it, rather than not all, regardless of when it was created after the game was already being mass produced...
