The original copies were rated Teen, but then ESRB went phyco for some reason and changed it to Mature.

my box says M... where are you located... Euro games are often rated with a lower rating.

i dont get how the ESRB can change the rating based on a user made mod and expecially on the 360 when it is near impossible to mod a game

I think it was also partly the fact that the game can get brutally violent at some spots...some of the things in the Oblivion gates are pretty disturbing, as are some of the Dark Brotherhood quests.  I'm guessing the ESRB didn't play through the whole game because it was so long and missed some of the nasty stuff.

And yes, my game says rated T too.  They changed it later.

They did make it for the PC and Xbox 360 and they may make it for the next systems when comes out on sadly. I think they made it so it work on a USB drive, (I thnk) but dont quote me on that. The first shipments of the game are rated T, Then some one who has to much time on his/hers hands made a "Naked Mod" for the PC and Xbox and the ESRB fixed the prob. No big deal for you but you just a "rarer" copy of the game.

i belive what happend was the developers didnt send content to the esrb that represented the gore in the game according to the esrb. It is obviously an M game with the dark brotherhood and all so the esrb changed it when they took things they didnt know about before hand into account.

Mines rated "T" but it has an "M" sticker over the "T" on the game case...the disk still says "T" though.

When the ESRB found out about the nudity mod. They went back and completely re looked at the game.

They claim that there is more gruesome violence in the game than they originally thought, and that is how they justify changing the game from a T rating to a M rating. Wether or not this was really was the case with the rating change has yet and will probably never be known.

Wait ESRB changed the rating because the heard about burning bodys. So the M rating was not because of any Nudity if it was the PS3 would have the stuff taken out and would give it a T

you probably just got an old copy, my next door neighbor is a manager for Gamestop and I asked him, he said that last spring a few weeks after the game launched, the ESRB made all stores place stickers over the T rating on the outside of Oblivion packaging. About a month later they started getting copies of the game in with the M rating printed on the package. It is possible you just got a copy that has just been sitting on the shelf or in a back room for close to a year and never got a rating sticker changed. I was at Target the other day, and they had both versions on the shelf sitting right next to each other, and some kids mom was complaining about it to the guy working

I mean I don't like to convince people what they don't know...? words? lol. Like people may think there are no differences in either of the versions, just because the 360 is a straight port, so I don't want to fight with someone trying to convince them otherwise. And yea, that is a difference I noticed to, and many of the dungeons are in different areas of the map

It's not very M-ish of a game. I mean there's not a whole lot of bad stuff. Call of Duty 3 is rated T. Oh no blood...should have known. It's just red stuff that comes out of your body, sheesh.

Its not just the blood, dude. It just has a lot of gore and can be disturbing at times, like the place you go on DB quests. The room beneath the lighthouse in Anvil is an example of this.

Idk, I guess he doesn't find the differences big enough to talk about. It's not like the differences were a problem for me, just that they are there, and can make things a bit confusing if you played one version before another.

yeah dude, its complete bs.  i mean people should be able to buy a game and not have to worry about the ESRB changing the rating because of some user mod on the pc.  if this goes on, can someone make a mod of barbie horse adventure to where barbie is naked?  then would they have to change the game to a M rating?  hahaha, its just stupid if you ask me.
