First, let me start off by saying I like Battlefield games, but I have one criticism. Please read the following.

First off, whenever I play Battlefield, I feel like I'm really in a war. The tanks, jeeps, planes, boats, everything is great. I like that part. But the thing is, I actually don't feel like I'm part of a team. I feel like everyone is off doing their own thing, now granted, I may be playing with online people, but honestly, even with friends I just don't feel connected. There's just some disconnect, like everything's going on, you're shooting and all, but there's some sort of disconnect.

Now, with Call of Duty, I feel like I'm really immersed. Now, I do feel immersed in Battlefield, but I think Call of Duty resembles more of what I like. Fast paced action. I'm not saying Call of Duty is better, but with Battlefield, honestly, I don't find sub machine guns of any use in that game. I mean I've played BF2 for PC, Bad Company for 360, and today and yesterday BF1943, and the submachine guns really aren't that great. They're good up close, but for distance, you just can't do anything with them.

Plus, it's weird with the Battlefield community, because I thoguht Battlefield was more tactical, and more communication was needed to win in multiplayer, but from my experiences with Bad Company and BF1943 on 360, a lot of my team mates never talked. Plus, why can't all 12 of us just talk? I mean 4 is good, but sometimes you have a squad that just isn't all that great. I feel like everyone though in CoD4 almost has a mic, and the community just seems more lively.

Maybe due to the fact that Battlefield is just so huge, I feel like I need something with a little more range, I don't know. But there's just a feeling of more immersion and faster, more furious action in Call of Duty. Also in Battlefield, why can't you aim down the sights? I mean, you can with some guns, but with the sub machine guns they don't let you, why?

Anyways, can anyone else give me some reasons why they LIKE and why they DISLIKE the Battlefield series? I feel like I'm the only one who sorts of feels just disconnected in Battlefield sometimes.

Thank the lord.:) I mean, I like Battlefield, but sometimes I feel "iffy" about the game, like unsure.

I think what you've noticed is how PC Battlefield gamers and 360 Battlefield gamers play differently. On PC, even without mics I can easily find groups of people working together. You can issue commands, orders, call for a medic easily, all without needing a mic and work well together as a team. You have a commander, who when he does his job well, organises the battlefield, gives the squads objectives and gives the side a strategy. On 360, playing BFBC I found it was much more like a team of individuals playing that just happened to be on the same side. If you got injured and needed a medic you would see a support guy just run past and ignore you because all he wanted to do was call in an airstrike, or take the tank. He would only use the health pack if he was damaged. Another issue is even with a mic you can only talk to the 3 others in your squad, and that really kills off most attempts to get a team working together rather than just a couple of people. I have still had fun on BFBC on 360, but it hasn't given me near the same experience as BF2 or BF2142 on PC. Really looking forward to BF3 when that finally gets made :)

That's because DICE knows not every gun has the range of a sniper. An SMG is deadly up close, it's not so deadly from medium-long range, that's why there are these things called assault rifles and sniper rifles.

You are spot on. This is why conquest mode was a complete failure in Bad Company. This is also why i haven't purchased this one yet. Add me to your friends list and I'll buy it. As long as I have a group that will play as a group, i'm in.

Really? COD seems like more of what you are describing to me. If you belong in a communicating squad it feels like your on a team. Like one time I was in a plane and my squad mates were telling me where to bomb ect and I took out tanks for them it was epic :) SMGs are okay at distance if you zoom in and fire in burst as well.

I agree when it comes to the console versions, but BF2 on the PC was the most fun I've ever had with a game, and when you could get in a good server it was a very team based experience. There's nothing better than being squad leader and talking to your commander about where he needs you and then relaying that to your squad, who tell you they need artillery first, which you request to the commander. The culmination of all the different parts results in brilliance.

I've got both COD4 and Battlefield: Bad company, and personally, I prefer Battlefield because it's slower. Waiting to respawn is a pain compared to COD4, but, it makes sense when the whole game is slower I guess. I have to admit, I've almost never felt like I'm playing on a team in Battlefield though. Very occasionally I'll go on Conquest, and I'll find a like minded person and we'll go storming houses together, then it feels epic. Just taking a side of the house each, then joining back up with them once it's clear. Move inside taking opposite corners of the room. Someone runs in shooting so you cover their back, kill the enemy, throw a medkit across the doorway to them for a nice 15 healing points as well as keeping them alive to cover your back. Moments like that feel awesome, but, rarely do moments like that happen. At the same time though, I've never felt in a team on COD4, things like team deathmatch don't feel teamy at all to me, however, I suck pretty hard at that game so that could be the problem.

I definitely disagree. COD Might have all the players talking, and occasionally there will be little teamwork moments but for the most part(and i only played cod4 at its height keep in mind) Its all little kids and immature adults fighting with each other calling names, and basically all being annoying. With battlefield though there are teamwork moments that don't even need talking, and yea you cant really play and expect to be team working with random people. It happens but its rare. I will add u if you want and we can play. Cod is a dumbed down battlefield and the strategy is nonexistent. Its action packed but no real satisfying strategy.

You can't kill long range with an SMG because you can't do that witha real SMG. Actual SMG's usually kick like a mule and fire much faster than other guns leaving you to spray and pray at close to medium range. Battlefield tends to make their firearms much more lifelike than CoD. Battlefield also got bulletspeed and arc right compared to most other games. If you can find someone in real life who can snipe with a sub-machine gun then maybe every FPS character should be based on them.

I agree to an extent. Only once was I on a team that did whatever they wanted, which resulted in 90% of them playing as snipers. We could take a point but not hold it and lost really badly. Most of the time my teams do work together with little communication. Most people have the common sense to know which target needs to be taken next.

The one thing that drives me up a wall is when your team has all the points on the map and suddenly a point across the entire map is taken by a single enemy sniper. Your entire team is at the last flag you just managed to take after a big battle and suddenly that lone sniper takes the flag across the level. Then the enemies go and take 2 or 3 more flags before you finally meet up with them.

I really think the flags should be connected. To take one another must be taken first... or another 2, such as the two bases closest to the airfield on Wake. Planetside worked like this after that game had the same "lone wolf takes random point across the map" issue.

Also, there needs to be a class cap on snipers. I can barely move 10 feet on Guadacanal (sp?) without being shot by one...

EDIT: Oh yeah Infantry needs a pistol :P

I've always preffered Battlefield over CoD. Running and gunning on maps the size of shoe boxes gets old way too quickly.

I prefer Bad Company over Call of Duty 4, because first of all I dont like perks, and I feel a much larger battle scale while playing Battlefield, and to say something more I've never felt like teamwork in any of them, yeah there is the short teamwork moment from time to time but teams dont ork as a whole, half the time I dont know what weapons or perks are my teammates using, thats why I play Rainbow six when I need some team work and communication

I love sniping in battlefield, thats it, really.

Close combat is soooooooooo frustrating to me, I just get so angry.
