My wife likes to make jokes now and then about pouring water over my 360, or stepping on it and "accidentally" throwing it outside our 11th story apartment.... this use to be because i played it alot, but since i got this new job i rarely play it at all, so now it's like it was a waste of money cause now even i don't play it (women and their damned if you do , damned if you don't situations) ... anyways she keeps asking me to sell it and get a wii ( she refuses to have both) cause it's something that she'd play too... i'm not against getting a wii, but i sure as hell aint ditching my 360... any advice?? i love her, so divorce isn't an option, she's pretty much cool about everything except the 360...

There are always going to be things you don't agree on.  I would just simply state it isn't being sold.  So if she wants a Wii, you both need to explore other options together, and if she isn't down with that, then welcome to the I'm dating/married to stubborn women club.  Tell her if she backs off it you may have a surprise in store (dinner, flowers, weekend getaway type thing) and if that doesn't work, learn the art of tuning her out.  That's what I do.  Plus you could state what you got the thing for and what it would sell for and that you'd be losing money on it and try to use it a little more so it doesn't seem expendable to her.  Maybe with a little luck she'll enjoy Feeding Frenzy or something like that and want you to keep it.

I would say if you were constantly playing the 360 and she wanted you to get rid of it to get the WII instead then you'd have something to work through. But you, yourself, say that you are too busy to play the 360, and if she'd like playing the Wii, perhaps you could do the swap and both of you could play it..

My wife isn't a terribly huge fan of the 360, but shes understanding.  We rented a cabin in the moutains Superbowl week with about 16 other people and one of the couple's brought their Wii.  I told my wife it was going to be there and she was not excited in the least.  We got there, she played, she loved...the Wii ended up being an early Valentine's present to each other.

Get her to catch the bug and you'll have a Wii soon enough.  The Wii is for both of you, the 360 is for you and I'm sure she does something to relax that you don't necessarily enjoy doing.

That would be hardcore to the extreme if someone divorced their wife over a videogame system.  I'm sure it would be more because of the stubburness of the wife but it would definately be noteworthy.

I'm married too and I can definately understand the unreasonability (is that a word?) of women.  I just bought a 52 inch, 1080p LCD TV after MONTHS of research only to bring it home and have my wife complain because she didn't like black.  After a day of watching Blu-rays, however, she quickly changed her tune.

So that said, my advice is to buy the Wii and offer to take it (the Wii) back in a week or two if she really hates having it and the 360 in the house.  The thing is ultra small and won't look like more than big router to people who don't know the difference.  But, in the end, keep the 360 over the Wii.  I've got all three and I can't remember the last time I played games on the PS3 or the Wii.

I'm in med school so I also understand the whole time crunch thing.

And please, no cracks about being in med school and buying TVs and have all the systems.  I work very hard, save my money, only buy electronics, and campaign very effectively during Christmas with the inlaws.

Just get a Wii and explain to her that you're not going to get rid of your 360.

Seriously, be a man and compromise, just get both haha. No man should be made to give up his 360, but you gotta please the Mrs. a bit, so get her the Wii. They are decently cheap so since you have a new job you can probably save up for it pretty quickly.

Reading this (and several non-game-related stories) just makes me glad I’m not married. I’ll just keep my sanity, autonomy, and cash instead.

What's the reasoning behind not having both the 360 and Wii. You already own a 360, sure you could sell it, so you could have enough for the Wii, but they really aren't that expensive.

Get her in a really good mood, then talk to her about it, if you have the touch like I do, after certain things, she'll agree to anything. Doing the deed on a Saturday morning then making her breakfast usually works for me...(at least, that's how I ended up convincing her to get me a 32" LCD, JUST for the Xbox, for my birthday) ;)

Hey  some addvice from a girl!!!  Take her out to a game store buy a game she would like to play and get her to like the 360  that is what my boyfriend did and now i am hooked on it. She is probably upset b/c you ain't letting her join in. Just try it if it doesn't work then you got some issues to deal with

Get the Wii, keep the 360, she will get over it.

Thank god I earn all the money in my household......no one tells me how to use it, but I also have a cool wife that likes to play the 360 also.

well dude you cant let her call the shots with what you can and cant have.  not saying your whipped but bro, maintain your dignity and tell her she can buy the Wii for herself unless she bought you your 360 than your S.O.L.  i mean logically why cant you have both?  too bad you love her because then the obvious is clear.  i was in the same situation kind of too, only my ex-fiance hated games in general and basically anything else fun.  atleast yours is cool overall lol.

tell her if she wants a wii, she can buy one. And tell her if she throws your 360 out the 11th story window, she'll be following it.

Marriage is all about compromise. If she wants you to get rid fo the 360 then you tell her to get rid of something, like soap operas or Dr Phil or some crap. My wife loves videos by the way so, HA! lol

If work is keeping you from playing the 360 and your wife wants a Wii I would vote for the Wii.  It's a more pick up and play friendly kind of system.  Not to mention it's good for a workout which if you're working so much isn't such a bad idea to piggyback fun and exercise.

Why is she against having a console she wants (and that you both want), and keeping the console you already have? Get both. Talk her into it, and don't sell your 360. You should have discussed your feelings about owning multiple consoles well before marriage. :D

Keep the 360 and buy her a Wii and tell her to stop complaining before you throw her out the window of your eleventh story apartment.

If you really think she will damage it in any sort of way, store it somewhere she can't find it or get to it. I don't think you should sell it just because she wants to get a Wii. If she wants to get a Wii then she can buy it or something. If you bought the 360 with your own hard-earned money, don't let her make you sell it.

I told my wife before she married me, that gaming is a part of me and forever will be. She complained too, so this past christmas I bought her a Wii and a tv.....let's just say that was a rather great idea, cause she no longer bothers me. ;)

Dude, how can you be in med. school with a gamerscore that high? Talk about some great time management. Wait til residency.

Depending on how many 360 games you have, that could be a lot of money down the drain.  Be assertive, but don't just "tune her out" or ignore her requests.  Find ways to compromise.
