The first time I plugged my ipod into the Xbox I was stoked to se it would play music off it, but sadly it won't play songs i purchased on itunes, when I try it says i need an update which i download, when I try to play the song again it tells me it needs an update, and this goes on endlessly.

Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

Actually now that I think about it, I had some issues getting Itunes songs that I had already purchased onto my zune, it's either a formatting or DRM issue. I think you're only option would be burn it to a cd and rip it to the 360, but that's not worth it. Hopefully that's not the case but I'll let you know if I can dig anything up about it.

Found it, Xbox (anything MS for that matter) does not recognize the .aac format. You will have to convert it to .wma or .mp3. You can google some free converters if you decide it's worth your time. Hope that helps.

Yeah my iPod doesn't work on my Xbox, I think they stopped supporting new models a few years back. I have to stream music off of the Zune software.

The reason is that Microsoft made the Xbox 360 self aware so that if any Apple based products were plugged into it, the 360 would immediately not allow it to work. Sadly its self-awareness is limited only to this.

Apple goes out of its way to make sure that itunes and ipod are incompatible with any third party software or devices. Add in all that DRM crap and I'm sticking well clear of them. A regular MP3/4 player is much better - cheaper for the same capacity, far more compatible with hardware and software, and doesn't force DRM on you

All of the songs on my Ipod work on the 360 so I guess it must just be the format like someone else said.

Did you put a pre-existing library onto your Ipod. Like ripped cd's, or non-drm purchased music. Those would be in an acceptable format. Any songs purchased through Itunes have to be converted out of that .aac format.

For some reason, the 360 can't play even the non-DRM songs bought off iTunes. I blame Apple or something.
