Well, basically in the games I've been playing recently I've noticed some frame rate issues. First, is Halo Reach campaign, I actually made a post about it before and recently I read on the Bungie forums that the campaign does suffer from some framerate issues, so I guess in that game it's expected. Next, would be Guitar Hero: WoR. No matter what stage I play, with or without hyperspeed, and any song, my fretboard has occasional stutters.. not enough to make me miss notes, but enough to be noticeable and annoying. I read in a review on I think joystiq and they noted this issue, however I've played it in other places and did not notice it, but I wasn't really looking for it I guess...so I guess in a way that game is spoken for as the fretboard stutter was noted in a review. But now the 3rd game, which I've read nothing on is Borderlands. My friend and I bought it and did the campaign on co-op and many times, especially in the later stages the game would slow down a lot. It was a very noticeable framerate dip. I didn't read anything about it doing that in the review here on gamespot (or if it's there, I missed it) but regardless this has me worried. I've noticed it in other places as well (like in some parts of the dashboard), and in other games.

I've tried clearing the cache, but didn't notice any improvements. I know I'm really picky about these things, and I can notice changes in framerates a lot more than most people, but I also have OCD so seeing all this slowdown worries me about the condition of my Xbox.

So basically I'm just wondering from you guys if most if not all games have occasional framerate drops, or if mine are out of the ordinary and I should be prepared for my Xbox to crap out, and either have it repaired or buy the new slim version. My console is out of the regular warranty but still in the 3 year RROD warranty. But thanks for reading, and hopefully you guys can clear some of this up for me.

PS: I also recently bought the 250gb hard drive and I have every single one of my games installed on it except for Halo 3. I have 31 games, and a bunch of arcade games. Could that be causing the Xbox to slow down because it has something like 180gb of games on it's hard drive?

Also if it helps, I'm using a 1080p TV and have my Xbox connected via HDMI.

I bought the 4gb slim and it has slight slowdowns in most games, BFBC2, Reach, GoW2, MW2 and ridiculous screen tearing in the force unleashed. It may just be the 360. Im using a 1080P tv with HDMI cable aswell

I've heard from some friends about rare screen refresh issue when using HD TVs. Try connecting it to a SD tv. or use the component cable (set to TV)

But then the games will look worse, and text will be harder to read

I don't really have a SDTV nearby to test it out with and I'm really not wanting to test SD on my TV by using the composite cables or my component set to TV. I'd like to exhaust every possibility besides the TV first, because I just bought it 2 weeks ago and I'm really really hoping it's not that. But thats 1 person who said they get it too in a couple games, so maybe it's normal and like I said in my OP; I'm very picky and I notice the smallest issue in games..always have. Thanks for the replies so far.

I'll be honest, I get frame rate dips and screen tearing on games when reviews and reviewers never say anything about it. I have one of the best tv's around as well. It's frustrating but you're 360 is not breaking.

Thanks for mentioning that. For the past hour before I checked this thread again, I was thinking about all the PC games I played before my 360 with hardware far exceeding the requirements still getting dips with certain things happening. Even older consoles go through the same stuff with games from all genres. I guess I'll just chalk this one up to general developer fail unless someone can definitively say it's my console. I'll check back later, thanks guys.
