My xbox thinks my Alan Wake game is a DVD??

I just recently got a new copy of alan wake as a gift and almost every time i try to play it, it says that i have a DVD in. It's never done this before and the game is brand new. Whats going on???

It could be your dvd drive giving out. My first 360 in 2008 started recognizing everything as dvds, then failed completely. It could just be the game disc though. hillelslovak

I have a brand new xbox 360 slim though. I'd like to think that that isnt the reason.

This happened to me as well but with random games. I just ejected it and pushed it back in and it recognized it as a game

Alan Wake is the only game that would randomly read as a DVD for me.

eject and then put it back in, and it'd correct itself everytime it happened to me.

Probably the disk. Last time that happened to me, my xbox disk reader went bad.
