Well, got some new games for Christmas, but my Xbox doesn't seem to want to cooperate...

When i try to play madden 09 or nfl head coach 09 it doesn't read the disks.

But as soon as i put in Fallout 3, the game boots up without a problem.

My xbox has had trouble loading other sports games such as NCAA or previous maddens, but i could eventually get them to work.

Now it refuses.

My Xbox will not read any disk. I need help because my Xbox will not read disk. I went on a trip and i was flying and my Xbox was in my carry on so i dont think it was banged up. But i get home and hook up my Xbox and i put in fall out new Vegas after doing so it says reading disk and afterwards it says open tray as in no disk is incerted. If you have any information on how this could be fixed please email me at ch.turner77@yahoo.com. Thank you so much.

To anyone who has disc reading problems on xbox I suggest you try installing the disc to hard drive, it works for me as none of my games will run entirely from the disc anymore without getting a dirty disc or disc read error about a minute into the game. Sometimes the install stops for me midway telling me to clean the disc but it usually works in the end and I have no problems after that.

while good advice on installing to the hard drive it kind of is a moot point if the drive won't read the disk. I had this similar problem with Civilization Revolution and while I know the game is buggy enough it actually was the disk. When I tried to install it it would get to like 49 -52% and then say the disk was dirty. Here apparently some games are super picky on how the disk is. Being a mature adult with OCD I take care of all my stuff (hence 4 xbox's and no RROD) and when I took my disk into Gamestop (where I had just bought it) the guy told me it had signs of damage. I asked how it could get damage and he told me from bumping the xbox or moving it while the disk was in. He didn't want to admit he sold me a shoddy disk since my Gear 3 xbox has not moved from our oak entertainment center since it was put there on release. Luckily I found a way to get a replacement disk and we are good as gold.
