I did buy a new one. Since I can't afford to buy an Xbox360 with atleast 250gb I had to do that $99 Xbox360 Deal with $14.99 a month for 2 years that Microsoft is doing. It may sound like a rip off to alot of people, but if you do the math it really isn't that bad of a deal. It would normally cost $444.27 w/tax for a 250gb Xbox360($324.29 w/tax) and 2 years of Xbox Live($119.98), but with that Microsoft Deal it costs $466.78 w/tax for a 250gb Xbox360($107.02 w/tax) and 2 years of Xbox Live at $14.99 a month($359.76). I went to Best Buy and got this Deal and I only had to pay a total of $122.01 upfront for the first month Xbox Live and for the 250gb Xbox360. So this Microsoft Deal is really a difference of only $22.51 compared to getting everything at retail prices. I think that isn't really too bad, and is acceptable for people like me that can't afford to pay the full price upfront because I can afford $14.99 a month.buy a new one.

I save every dlc and and saved game progress for every game that I have. All that takes up alot of space.

Might help save space in the future, as its hard to play 200 games at once :P

I know, but that's okay. Downloading alot of that stuff is too time consuming, like anything that is 1gb or larger in size takes 10mins/15mins or longer to download and I have the fastest cable connection where I live. The only thing that I delete is the installed game itself once I am done playing it at that time.
I've had one xbox die on me, still have my xbox slim but right now I've swapped to PC gaming. It's so much better, you should really switch.
if its only a disk drive issue i get broken xbox's all the time off craiglist for 20 bucks because people dont want them when they red ring and just trying to get some money back. replace the disk drive, its simple plug and play to the board takes less than 10 minutes to fix, ive done it twice now still on my original xbox
This is one of the only products that I know of, that breaks continuously, and the consumer runs right out and grabs another one. If you had a HP computer, or a Sharp T.V. or any other electronics product, and it broke on you 3 times, would you buy another item of the same brand????
I've had my xbox since Sept. 2008 and it is currently dying on me. The disc tray sometimes does not want to pop out and it has problems reading discs even if they are new. I've only had one xbox so I'm glad it at least beat its 2 year life expectancy (All of my friends consoles died just under 2 years from purchase). Since I'm no longer covered by warranty I might just try fixing it myself.

Good luck with that. I have heard some horror stories of people replacing the cd drive in their Xbox360, because I was thinking of doing that to. On eBay people sell cd drives for the Xbox360 and I was going to try to replace it myself since it is only like $30 - $40 for one, but I figured that if I do that and it works then something else may go wrong with my Xbox360. So I decided that it wasn't with it.
If you do the replacement and it works let me know what happens.
