I think it's amazing, but it is really challenging and is taking a while to get used to. Still, it is definitely the most realistic game on the market and is extremely enjoyable.
Tried it at a friends though already and im loving it! Its nice and realistic, with alot of emphesis on defensive play and good passing on offense. Pretty much the perfect basketball game imo, as i want REALISM for my bball and not dunk fests :)
its great but the frame rate is killing me i like how they have improved the animation yet agin its crazy all games should be that way, its like the players know exactly what your trying to do and do it
Seriously sick!! I played the demo for Live before I did 2K and I've got to say Live has definitely improved a lot, it actually for a moment swayed my decision in its camp. Once the demo finished for 2K and I started playing I immediately regretted ever doubting 2K's dominance. The animations, gameplay and just overall vibe make it feel more catered to the true basketball fans.
My one complaint would have to be the faces though. If 2K had better facial models for everyone else other then KG lol I'd be so much more in love with it. Definitely picking up 2K when I have the chance!
I must say though that NBA 2k9 will be very frusterating to some people. I know i might get nba live 09 aswell just because they have improved alot since the last few terrible games, and because i have a few friends who arnt basketball buffs like me and that want a PICK UP AND PLAY basketball game not a realistic one.
SO in the end if your a basketball junky who loves realistic basketball games, you will be blown away by the detail put into this game. Its also very defense oriented and you have to really learn EACH players shot on offense to do good in this game. You cant just go for dunks all the time and play sloppy defense, you really have to play patient defense and keep an eye on everything. While Nba Live is a little more user friendly, especially for people who arnt basketball junkys and just want to pick up and play nba game.
I bought it today and went over to my friends dorm room and played a few quick games. I wasn't used to the new controls and dunking seemed hard, but otherwise I had fun. Being my first NBA game I've ever owned I'm happy with my purchase. The only oddity was that Shaq seemed to be really good compared to how he actually plays in real life, and the Spurs offensive rating seemed rather low IMO.
How do the isomotion controlls work for this game becuase when i was playing the demo it didnt have any intructions on that, so i was really frustrated with the fact that i couldnt toy around with the moves

The moves are complicated. There are so many moves you can do plus plays that u can call aswell. I dont want to ruin it for ya, so just try a few more times, its not to hard to figure out how to do the between teh legs, behind the back moves,etc..
There are some flaws (frame rate for replays and off court action really gets choppy, computer does some non-practical strategies like not letting Kobe shoot the ball when the Lakers and down 12 with 4 minutes to go, and the menus could be improved) but the game plays really well, and the atmosphere is finally feeling alive and loud! I would give it an 8/8.5!

Im usually Indiana Pacers, unless the team im goign against is one of hte top 5 teams (Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, Hornets,etc..), then ill be Rockets, Lakers or Hornets
