nearly 4 years since the release of the 360 and still a lack of fun platformers!

dont get me wrong, I love my 360.. but nearly four years since the release of the 360, there's still a lack of platformer titles being released onto 360. For over two years Microsoft built up the latest Banjo title only to disappoint many gamers. Crash Bandicoot used to be a great franchise, until the new developers screwed up the franchise by introducing damn mutants ! WTF is all that about !! The latest sonic title is a complets joke, if your travelling forward at high speeds, why the hell would you want a sideangle camera view which obscures your view. WHAT THE HELL ARE DEVELOPERS THINKING ABOUT THESE DAYS.. HOW MANY MORE FUN FRANCHISES ARE GOING TO DISAPPEAR OR GET TOTALLY RUINED ?! The 360 needs games like Crash Bandicoot, Jack and Daxter and Rachet and Clank, the average gamer certainly should'nt have to buy more than one console just so he/she can play platformer titles. It seems all Microsoft are content with is releasing platforming titles that were popular years ago ! Pull your finger out Microsoft ! More new/fresh colourful fun platformers please, not just more and more repetetive online cloned shooters with even shorter single player campaigns !

He's really right there used to be a lot of good platformers, Rayman too. There's really some good ones out there too just not on 360, I was interested in Ratchet & Clank but it wasn't worth keeping my PS3 for to buy the 2 year old game. I wish 360 would come out with more games for that genre but platformers just aren't that good anymore period.

Agreed. I downloaded a demo for the Maw. That game's quite fun.

And you should also check out Braid.

I'm sorry, but as far as I'm concerned Braid is just another version of Donky Kong with depressing music dumbed down for this generation. fact.

You cannot label your opinion as a fact. That just makes you look like a jerk. As for the topic; I recommend Kameo, Nuts and Bolts, The Maw and Prince of Persia. I do agree that the 360 is sorely lacking platformers.

No, you're just a PS3 fanboy. You named a bunch of Sony's (mediocre) titles. Okay, yes I do love Jack and Daxter. But there is a reason the 360 has had more sales than the PS3. Way more. Actually get a 360 and you'll know why.

That really doesn't prove anything. And yes, you are just coming off as a Sony fanboy.
But really it doesn't look like you even own a 360 'cause most people put there gamertag on their
profile. Same thing with the PS3.

FACT

how ya like those apples !

You're also not funny. There are alot of great platform games for the 360. But really, who the hell cares about how mnay platform games? Its not those in general that we should be worried about. Its good games to the least. Plus I think Nintendo has wiped out all competition in platform gaming. Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, etc etc.

There are alot of platforming games. There just haven't been many recent releases, thats all. And morning renival was saying people can lie like that... so could you. Plus he could have been planning to get the game next day or so. It isn't that big of a deal.

I'd like an old school Banjo Kazooie platformer too. I want to give the new one a chance, but the demo (imo) was terrible and I can't bring myself to spend more than $20 on it.

one major reason that platformers are in short supply is because they arent nearly as good nor nearly as marketable or as big of a cash cow as Fps's, racing games, RPG's, etc.

in my experience, platformers are more kid-friendly, and the 360 is def not geared towards kids

most ppl who play on xbox live or who have a 360 are older than 13, and dont want to play "childish" (i know that its a generalization, but most platformers fall into this category) games anymore

so if u want to play a platformer, go to the arcade, or get PoP

and p.s. to the TC, all of those playstation exclusive platformers suck ass...now go run along now and play Little Small, i mean, Little Big Planet

That's sort of a niche genre now. I mean, not many people are into those currently, so its not really bankable for a company to release one. Look at LittleBigPlanet, a new and creative take on the platformer genre and it didn't sell very well.

I care because like the mojority of gamers who use this site, I'm passionate about gaming, as you probably are yourself.. hence the reason why we spend time on here ! and just like many other gamers who own a 360, I though it would be fun if we had more titles like jack n daxter, crash, rachet ect (even though titles like these are a dying breed).. not everone can afford to own two consoles !

If you really care about a good platformer, get the original Banjo Kazooie on XBLA. It's one of the best games on there and it holds up amazingly well. As for this thread, it's now completely a flame war so I"m outta here...

| I find the 360 is more of a family console. Except not in the sense like its a Wii. Because its got an all around genre of games for all ages but mostly for the average gamer, which is why I consider it the best console on the market right now. And yeah, all those sony platform games feel the same. You just run around, smashing some enemies with some bludgeoned weapon. As you do in Racthet and Clank, Jack and Daxter AND Crash Bandicoot. Now they may have been fun if they turned it into a multiplayer game like Blinx games. Too bad that wasn't a big franchise.

The platformer genre is dead, its been taken over by generic shooters.I sure do miss it though,banjo-tooie was probably the best game I played.

Speaking of which, when does Banjo-Tooie come to the marketplace.

I don't care for platformers personally, but after recently picking up Assassin's Creed I realized it's more of a platform game than a stealthy assassination game such as tenchu or even splinter cell games. However, I am really really enjoying the platforming aspect of t he game, it's just so fluid and responsive. So for a person who doesn't like platforming games much, AC is really rocking my world.

Kameo was fun, and it's super cheap now. There's some good platformers on the 360 in my opinion though.
