Well, the day that the pre-order for it was announced in my town, there was a huge line outside of EB...I know because I was in it. I managed to get on the list at 25, but when I called and checked how many pre-orders they had (my friend wanted to find out), they said they were nearly past the 200 mark...pretty insane. But, Halo 2 had nearly 2 million pre-orders, and people had no trouble at all finding it. I would say don't worry about it, but you never know...chandlerr_360next time i go to the super market ill just go to gamestop and put down 5 bucks on it probably
Pre-ordering is a scam for the game stores to make money. You pre-order a game for $5 and the game doesn't come out for like 6 months. Now multiply that $5 by the number of people who pre-order lets say for one store it is 500 people. Thats $2500 that that store puts into their account and collects interest on for 6 months. So the game store is not ONLY making a profit on the console sales new and used, the games new and used and the accessories new and used but also on the preorder. Now some of you may say well--- interest on $2500 for 6 months isnt that big of a deal until you realise that the concept is done day after day month after month year after year. MrMurphy72how is it a scam? the customer sees no difference whatsoever in the price

Its a scam because the customer sees no difference in the price. Thats the exact point. They are making money off of your money and you recieve no benefit from that transaction. Do you really believe that you should NEED to preorder a game? Of course NOT. Every game store could infact could go back to their past sales history and project how many copies of a game they should order to fill their customers needs. Instead they make you pre order because it benefits them not you. Its a scam by definition scam

And yet, the costumer still isn't affect? So what if they are making money off our money? They are a BUSINESS after all! It would be a scam if they took our $5 'n didn't put it toward the game 'n we had 2 pay that $5 later, but us costumers lose absolutely NOTHING in pre-ordering. In fact, in case you don't know, many games now-a-days come with special offers for pre-ordering. The new Pokemon games come with Stylus's or whatevr if you pre-order, some games come with Demos of the games (Saints Row) before they become public, and many other little extras.
The constumers aren't scammed because they aren't hurt by the process. The businesses get more money? Good, all the more better because they might mean more deals 'n sales or whatever. Besides, no one is FORCING you to pre-order, so only those whoo really want the game 'n make sure they have it get it.
[QUOTE="konradak"]Dude borrow like 5 Bucks from ur parents 'n reserve it. Doesn't take much time or hassel, 'n saves you worrying about it.hazuki
You do remember, preorders at gamestop/eb games are never guaranteed to come right?
Yea I know -.- ESIV Oblivion didn't come in at launch so I took out my pre-order 'n walked into Best Buy 'n bought it 0.o But still. To be safe, pre-order.
I hate pre-orders. I pre-ordered the new mortal kombat, and was told they would call me the day it was released. I didn't find out it was out until about three weeks later. Gamestop ALWAYS trys to sell me pre-orders. The guy tried about fifteen times to get me to buy a pre-order for halo 3. Sure, I want Halo 3, but I don't really like halo enough to reserve one. Its very annoying and I don't like it.
Also I paid 40 bucks for mortal kombat less then four months ago. Its now 19.99 brand new.
