Hey,

I decided to buy an Xbox in the next week. I am kinda new to Xbox world, so I would like to have your advices about the best deal I can get.

I am a PC gamer, and I expect to have a good console that I can completely migrate to

- Should I buy Elite or Slim (I learned there are some ventillation problems with Xbox).

- Kinekt seems cool, but is it really cool according to your expeience? I mean how much added value can I get from paying extra money? (for example I can add a little more and buy 3DS instead)

- Is it a good idea to buy a limited edition or stick to that standard version? (I do not have any games yet, but I am a big fan of FPS :) ).

- I live in Germany, so no Netflix for me! I do not expect to use for movies/music ... just games.

The bottom line is can you recommend the best installation/price balance I can get (maybe I should wait more time because it might get cheaper or so)?

Thanks in advance everybody.

Cheers,

as I just posted in another thread, the 250gb slim bundle (includes Halo Reach and Fable 3) is only $249 at Newegg right now. This is the best deal to be found at the moment for anything new. Why on earth would you consider buying a defectively designed older version (such as the elite)? Thereotically, the slims are designed better. Personally, I don't think they have been out long enough for their longterm reliablility to be proven yet. Still, unless you are just itching to experience the RRoD, buy a new model if you really want a 360 that badly.

Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately Newegg does not ship outside U.S. and I live in Germany. I found this same offer on Amazon: http://www.amazon.de/Xbox-360-Konsole-Limited-schwarz-glänzend/dp/B004M1ULCU/ for 266.95 Euros (including shipping) which seems like a good deal.

However Kienct is not included, which I don't know yet if I should really consider buying it as well.

About the RRoD problem, I had an unfortunate friend who had this problem and frankly I do not want have the same bad experience! However, I understood that the new version should be better so I will consider buying it along with its warranty. Still more advice is appreciated.

I got an Xbox S 250g with Kinekt and two games (Kinekt Adventure, and Kong Fu Panda) and 3 months gold subscription card for 300 Euro.

Thank you all for your advices.

I will consider now setting a good ventillation for it :)

Guess I got to this thread too late. But I was going to tell you to hold off on buying an Xbox. The new one will be out late 2013 with an improved Kinect. Though you will get enjoyment out of your 360!

So you are saying those who need to replace their broken ones which have RRoD'd multiple times should wait nearly 2 years before they can play another game? BTW, most of us already know the new gen is due out next year at earliest, you're not doing any of us any favors.

There has been no official announcements from Microsoft regarding a new Xbox. That release date and any other information regarding a new Xbox are just rumors. But I don't think a new 8th generation Xbox will come out until 2015.

Ive looked around the net about the new xbox and it will not even be showing at E3 this year and you can possibly look forward to seeing a prototype at next years GDC or possibly E3 if Microsoft does it. As for the xbox now, depending on your needs you can go with the 4gb or the 250 that comes with two free games. or the 4gb and upgrade the harddrive to a 120. The Kinect is mostly a family thing and if your a hard core gamer, it might not be worth the investment right off the bat for most of the games are kinda ehh. check amazon for international.

AFAIK There was no official announcement about a new XBox during E3. I do not regret buying the new one, however, I just found out that Kinekt was a waste of money :-/

What I am concered about is the ventillation. I read about a lot of complaints about the device shutting down because of overheating.

I installed my new XBox is an open area in a vertical position. I wonder if I should buy a ventillation kit (such as extra fans, or some other solution ...)

Thanks for your help guys

I'd say wait till after E3 to buy a Xbox 360. There is a chance Microsoft might drop the price to steal some of the Wii U 's thunder.

Slim for sure, but the Kinect is not so great. It has a lot of potential and the Dance Central games are fun, but not worth an extra $100 right now.

Snap up a 320GB Xbox 360 S if you are able. The standard Xbox 360 S is 250GB Matte finish. The Xbox 360 Elite is no longer being made so if you really want a Xbox 360 Elite it will have to be used. The original Model of Xbox 360 has been replaced by Xbox 360 S.

Aviod the 4GB Flash memory model since it is not worth it. So pick up the Star Wars 320GB Console S bundle if you want to try Kinect since it comes with the game Star Wars Kinect as the Pack in Game.

good luck with Xbox
