Has anyone read in any hands-on previews whether there is going to be free roam or practice option in NFS:S. For example in PGR 4 you can drive any track with any car, similar in Race Pro. But in GRID you have to get into the career mode before its just you a car and a track. I really hope its not going to be race, race, race, as part of a simulation is the ability for you to drive by yourself on a track without other racers!

Also, where the BLOODY HELL is the demo, having scoured the Internet for a possible release date all I can find is more people asking the same question.

Just found out info on different race modes:

The Race Modes
There will be no Free Roam mode this year, but aside of standard circuit tracks, there will be a time attack mode and an elimination(or knockout) mode. The drift mode is back too, being way better than ever before because slightly mad studios worked together closely with real pro drift drivers, and some of the members of the studio even are enthusiastic drifters.

Oh well Time Attack is the best I can hope for!

they are completely taking away from what made NFS great, we have enough racing game. Bring back free roam, tuner with cheesey storylines and cop chases!

I agree. Stick to what they do best, instead of trying to barge into other territory where the bar is already put extraordinarily high by games like Forza 3 and Gran Turismo 5.

It's a pretty nice game. There are a few things I don't like, so does the 'Tuning'. You've put the stickers on both sides instead of 2 sides at the same time. And the racing is pretty hard, I've already instal my cars to top prestation's like Anti Lock Brakes and Tractioncontrol and stuff like that. But it looks awesome. If somebody has a tip for me, how to drive and instal my car the best, plz let me know. Thnks Peace.

Knockout races is what made N4S great, i remember need for speed 2 SE on the old dial up connection, those were the days but yes i do still love free roam and i have missed it, at least the way there going is better then lets say N4S porsche unleased......

What they do best? There hasn't been a good NFS game since Most Wanted. Reviews have been very good for Shift yet people still say that it won't be good or like you said there barging into other territory like Forza and GT. Shift is supposed to be right in the middle of arcade and sim. Easy enough for a person that likes arcade to pick up and a good level of detail for people that like sims. I love Forza and i'm counting down til October 27 but that's over a month from now so i might pick up Shift just to hold me over til then.
