Sometimes if you just wait a few minutes it will work.

You should give more information. Have you been able to connect before? Or is this a new connection? Based on what you said, the only advice I can give is to verify if your connection is "static" or "dynamic".

Dynamic is automatic and you don't need to enter an IP address.

Static requires an IP address (as well as DNS numbers, too.)

We don't know his problem, yet. Let him work it out here, first.

EDIT: Here's the Xbox Live support link. This may help you. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/connecttolive/xbox360/default.htm

hey man i feel ya, i had the exact same problem. it really started to p*ss me off. i tried puttin the ip address in myself and everything. but what i finally ended up doin is i had to put my 360 close enough to my main computer and hook up the ethernet cable. when i plugged that in and tried to sign on it worked. i think when i did that it configured the IP address and everything itself, and after that i was able to unplug it from the ethernet and now i can connect wirelessly again. so see if that works, good luck i know that crap is frustrating

Still, it is the easiest answer to the problem.
