Hey everyone, Ive just recently got the money to upgrade from my 20.1" monitor to a much bigger TV for my 360! The only problem is that I cant make a decision on what TV I should get. I have an Elite so I really want one with 1080p and Ive found a few good deals on a couple 42" LCD's. Mainly these two:

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_05771386000P?filter=Price%7C%24890-1670%5E&vName=Computers+%26+Electronics&cName=Televisions&sName=LCD+TVs

Any help deciding would be great. This is the first TV ive bought and for the time being it will be used exclusivly for gaming and movie watching. And if anyone else knows of any other great deals I should be looking at in my price range, Under $1200, then please let me know!

Also, do you think I should just wait for this weekend to see if anyone has some good labor day weekend sales going on?

Hope you don't plan to play close to the TV and be playing FPS games. Because it'll suck for you.

If you can play well at a FPS on a huge screen then you sir have some fast eyes. All that room can be a disadvantage and you might not see enemys in the very corners of the screen because you'd be focus on the huge center of the screen.

If you want some good reviews on hdtv, use cnet. Its a good start at least. You dont have to go with 1080p if your going under 50". Alot of people will probably flame me for this, but just do a search on it. Most pros will agree with me. If you go to cnet look at their hdtv buying guide section.

I agree that shooters aren't as much fun on a large TV as one slightly smaller, but I don't think you'll have this problem on a 43 inch screen. 50+ and it becomes an issue for some people. I have heard good things about the Vizio's. While maybe not as good as some of the really high end HDTV's the value is better.

I've been looking for the past few days myself, and I came across this awesome deal on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LNT4661F-1080p-LCD-HDTV/dp/B000N50S5Y/ref=pd_ys_qtk_rvi/002-2502418-6651231?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1Q9050WCNNX2A9EF2D4T&pf_rd_t=1501&pf_rd_p=186412001&pf_rd_i=home

It may be outside of your budget but you get a Free 19 inch HDTV with the purchase.

Yeah, I would be all over it if I didn't already have a 53 inch HDTV in the living room. I'm looking for a couple of 25-30 inch displays myself. I am setting up a game room that will have two 360's, two playseat evolutions and2 wireless racing wheels. I've already invested a ton of money into it and don't want to spend that much more. I have everything but the displays now.

i got a 56 inch samsung tv at best buy 2 weeks ago. it is dlp but its slim so its easily half the size of the normal dlp and its beautiful at 1080p on my ps3 and 360. i got it for 1750 but i got 300 off for doing direct tv and with direct tv you get a good deal and also you can get with direct tv a 50 dollar visa and a portable dvd player and if you tell them about it a $100 gamestop giftcard. i haven't played a FPS on it yet but sports games are so awsome especially when playing with friends and also guitar hero is cool on it. so far my only 360 games that are 1080p though are guitar hero and winning eleven 10 but both look super good.

Nobody said anything bad about the Vizios, like I said I have only heard good things. Yeah the Aquos or Samsung models may have a slightly better picture, but for the money the Vizio can't be beat. In fact I am seriously considering getting two of them next week.Wal-Mart has the 26 inch Vizios for under $500 each, and the other comparable sets are about $700.

there is a huge difference between 1080p and 1080i if you have a system that can use 1080p to the fullest. if both are being used to their max then the 1080p has about twice the pixels. and yes brand does make a difference. if you put a vizio next to a samsung the samsung will be better for sure but by itself a vizio will look great and are a great deal. i think it matters alot about the input but if you can do get a samsung, sony, panasonic, or a pioneer. i know this for a fact because i was going to buy a toshiba and i looked at one next to a samsung with the same input and the same abilities and the samsung had better colors, was more refined, and also has a better viewing angle which matters for dlp but no so much for lcd and plasma.

I gotta say, you'll be happy with both. Good luck on either one.

Thanks everyone for all your help. I have put some thought into it and have decided to get a smaller size, between 32"-37", mainly to save me a few extra bucks. Im also going to wait till this weekend and hope for some good labor day sales. But yeah I just wanted to say thanks for all the help everyone!
