Hi does anyone know what cable i need to play my xbox 360 on a Samsung SyncMaster 213T, it doesnt have a normal socket on the back so if a clever person could find out which wire i need i would be much obliged. if you google the name you can find out what sockets and things it has, i cant figure it out myself.

By "Doesn't have a normal socket", do you mean it doesn't have a blue, d-shaped port? If that's the case, you can still use the VGA cable mentioned above, but you need a VGA to DVI converter similar to this one.

You need to do some reading, otherwise peoples answers will make no sense to you. replying with 'but this doesn't work and that doesn't work' doesn't do you any good in learning.

That monitor has VGA and DVI inputs so you get your Xbox through the VGA cable which you can buy and your computer through DVI.

and two of these http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102696&cp=&sr=1&origkw=rca+coupler&kw=rca+coupler&parentPage=search

Thats what i use to hook up my headphones when i play on my LCD

Yes, using the VGA cables to hook up to a CRT or a LCD enables HD.

There is also a Logitech adapter (5 bucks at most) that converts the two RCA (white/red cables) to 5.1 speaker set up, however, the game will not be surround sound, just stereo through all the speakers and a subwoofer.

should cost you about 10 bucks, i got my stuff from radioshack. I couldnt find the Y-cable on the website but im sure they ahve it.

Depending on the monitor yes, but most will look much much better than standard definition. I play on a 22" LCD but it looks pretty good on my old 16" CRT too.

Laptops usually only have VGA outputs (as far as I know) so that wouldn't work...

hey i want the same thing, to connect my xbox 360 (premium) to my laptop....now my laptop HAS A HDMI PORT and iv looked around for a simple HDMI to HDMI port which i found...but i noticed that there isnt a HDMI port on the back of the xbox (its too big) there is on the elite but not on the premium.

so what cable would i need, or connector, so i can use a normal HDMI to HDMI cable.

Thanks in advanced,

Mat

There is a spot for the HDMI cable on the back of the Xbox 360:

You can't hook up a 360 to a laptop. At least, I'm pretty sure of this. I don't know of any laptops that have a video IN which is what would be needed.

OH, and a good place to buy the Xbox 360 VGA cable is from monoprice.com. It's only $10 there. You will also need to get a female to female VGA gender changer if your monitor doesn't have a female VGA input. Hope that makes sense.

ah thanks, didnt see that there is a slot for it above the big slot used with the cable given. OK, so all i need then is a HDMI to HDMI and away i go :D.

(my HD laptop is HP Pavilion dv9860) ...also do you think i would need any software on my laptop, or just connect it up??

Question:
I use my 22" lcd monitor sometimes with my 360 just because it makes some games look better than on my hdtv. But I cant run my 360 at my monitors native resolution (1680 x 1050) because the 360's resolution list doesnt have it. Is there anyway around this?
