depends on the router manufacturer. Is that the only error that you're getting when you do the Connection test?

If you have AIM you can add me - Draconis77 and I can walk you through changing stuff (except when your router is restarting obviously) :P

If your IP address is 192.168.1.# than your gateway would most likely be 192.168.1.1, subnet is usually 255.255.255.0

You need to get into your routers GUI and change some settings, again knowing which router you had would help.

You get to the GUI by opening a web browser and going to your router's gateway address, typically 192.168.1.1. When it asks you for username and password this is usually defaulted to admin and admin. You should change these while you're in there.

i really dont know a lot as you can tell, but how do you go to your router`s gateway address on a web browser

yup, easiest method. other then that your going to be learning to port forward.
