The obvious choice is Gears of War 1 and 2 as they were designed for co-op play. Halo 3 was okay. Army of Two had its moments as well and it's designed for two players as well. Call of Duty:WaW is not very good for co-op, but a great game.

gears of war 2 should be your top pick. the co-op in the campaing is awsome. You can go through in hardcore then insane, which is sweet. Then you can splite screen on Horde which is so much fun!! be and my brother did all 50 waves on casual and it rocked, And to think there is still normal, harcore and insane to do on that. I cant imagion how good ill have to get to even do hardcore on splite screen. And i think the icing on the cake is you and you freind and do all the online versus modes with or against each other with insane bots added. Go for GoW2 you wont regreat it

I think Perfect Dark Zero is one of the best split screen games to play because you can add so many bots. The game isn't the greatest but it's fun and dirt cheap now.

Like everyone else said GeOW2. There aren't many others these days unfortunately with the internet so readily available.

I never understood why so many were saying split doesnt matter before I had LIVE. I would search high and low for good SS games I could play with friends. Since I got LIVE 6 months ago, I couldn't give a **** about SS. Some others though are...

Halo 1-3, Fighting games of course, Need for Speed Most Wanted (most racers dont even have SS) RainbowSix 1 & 2 (these work great on SS), GeOW1, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (this an xbox1 game, but its still a great co-op game & will work on the X360)

Like everyone else has said geow 1 & 2. Also Rainbow six vegas 2 has a fairly decent co-op as does halo 3.

I'll go out on a limb here a little and say Halo 1. While not next gen per se, it has an absolutely epic campaign. Split screen on the legendary difficulty setting is awesome.

Whilst I never played Gears 1 Co-op, Gears 2 Co-op was pretty fun, Horde mode was just plain awesome, I've gone from 1-50 twice with it, though the first time I did maybe 10-20 levels solo. Left 4 Dead Co-op was just the best (for lack of a better word) damn fun I've had in a while, Sitting there all night with 4 friends (1 sitting there enviously watching) yelling and cursing at eachother. But I havn't touched Left 4 Dead ever since, and I've had people over a few more times after that, I just don't enjoy it's single player experience, and online versus mode would be better if I wanted to actually play as a survivor, but the new dlc that hopefully comes out should spark a bit of an interest for a little bit.

I know its not something you'd immediatly think of but as far as I know Castle Crashers is a great pick. Its an adventure/button masher with rpg elements. It supports both online and offline co-op up to 4 players. Its a fun game, download the trial.
