ok, so before ppl start saying, cheatcodes are the evil, let me just say that it can be fun to have cheat codes in games, like landmine mode in a football game, or infinite summons in morrowind, or paintball.

why do most newer games come without such awsome things to mess around with?

Yes, but some games are programmed so if you use cheats the achievements are turned off..  So they're ways around that worry..

Developers should reward gamers with cheats.. Sort of like achievements.. Do certain things in the game, or find something hidden and get infinite ammo or whatever.. You get the point..  Cheats codes are to simple..

My guess is that development costs prevent developers from spending the extra resources to include them. That stuff requires design, development, and testing. All of which costs money.

I have to agree. When I beat a game without cheats, it would be nice to be able to make a chump out of the game for fun.

I'm waiting for codes for crackdown. That game should have them or I will play less of it.

I think cheats ruin games. They take away from the actual merit of the game to try and keep you playing it. Shows the game is less than its cracked up to be really.

I get way less enjoyment out of a game when I use cheats. Case-in-point: Age of Empires on PC. I loved that game, played skirmish to death with cheats so I would be able to field unstoppable armies, but it got so old and unsatisfying. Why? Because I was using cheats. Then I learned how to play the game legit and it became so much more satisfying. I'm sure this can be applied to any game.

Thats why play the game fair and sqaure first and then cheat after you beat it.

I have always been disturbed by the fact that 90% of x360 games lack in-game cheats/\.

Landmine mode in a football game sounds like it would be fun... Still, cheats are mostly for little kids. I grew out of them, and now have no desire to use them.

My point was that it isn't satisfying, even after beating a game legit. There is no sense of accomplishment. I'm referencing "God Mode" codes, not " Extra Boomy Uh-Splosions" codes, because those don't make the game easier, just look different.

cheat codes are crap. I used to play SOCOM II hardcore.

This guy had the great idea to come up with CODE 9 which is basiclly god mode online, with options to boot people, freeze your system, make the guns stop firing, keep you from spawning. It killed the greatest game for ps 2 Cheat codes are crap. they create excuses during online play if your actually doing good cause of your skill. Most people blame it on a cheat code or a hack. Im glad cheat codes are lacking. It will show the real gamers from the lazy gamers.

i think some "cheat codes" have their place.  some games like say a GTA can benefit from them.  i liked being able to spawn almost any type of vehicle when ever i wanted just to mess around.  or giving myself large amount of ammo and 5 stars then seeing how long i could survive (always tried to take the chase to land, see and air).

some cheats are just stupid.  Big Head cheat?  yeah it was kinda funny in that old basketball game (NBA Jam i think?) but kinda dumb is say, a FPS.

oh yeah, and you shouldn't be able to use cheats online unless that is a parameter for your search.  i used to hate it in GR when someone would use the 2-d cheat, big head, and the chicken gnade cheat.  lame.

true, you needed a flash drive and codebreakers 9. But man it spread like a virus, making the greatest online game ever unplayable. But the point of the hack was to CHEAT
