new Spring Update?

do we have a new major update coming this season? didnt we have one on Winter? i ask that because i thought we get major season updates only twice a year. meaning that we get updates every other season. so if im rite, we wouldnt be getting a major update til Summer.. correct me if im wrong, please.

well, but its only an maintance update.. which will close LIVE for a couple of hours. seasonal updates dont do that.

And the other update we had was in Fall (it may have been close to Winter), therefore making the upcoming update in Spring.

has anyone heard what is going to be included in the spring update? I know it's a long way away but there may have been a few slips of information already.

I'm pretty sure there's no 'concrete' news right now about the Spring 2008 Update. But you can be sure that leaked info and plenty speculation will come in the following weeks.

You are off a season. We get one every FALL (or Autumn) and SPRING. We don't get one during winter.

No, this one is not maintenance as is would have stated so in the message sent to everyone on XBL. The message said that XBL would be closed for 3 hours to "upgrade the service" which sounds like the spring upgrade to me.

No, this one is not maintenance as is would have stated so in the message sent to everyone on XBL. The message said that XBL would be closed for 3 hours to "upgrade the service" which sounds like the spring upgrade to me.

Upgrading the server does not mean updating the console/Dashboard. There are always short maintenance periods before updates are applied, meaning they're 'prepping' for the Spring Update most likely.

Well, the servers are mostly part of the XBL service, right? Why would they need to shut down the service for three hours when you simply need to download an update like before? Plus, the servers are not fine. I frequently get slow-down periods when there's high traffic on the system - for example, Easter Weekend.

Moreover, spring just started. Last year we got the update in May - and I doubt MS is anxious to get it out. I hope you remember me when you don't have an updated Dashboard/console on April 1st.

True, but XBL is made up of more than just servers. There is the whole presentation, features, fucntionality, and community aspects as well. And I wouldnt find it odd if they shut down xbl for the update. Either way, I'm just hoping it comes APril 1st, if it doesnt whatever

It's a video file type which is often used for HD content. My brother has a huge collection of Blu-Rays, and he backs all of them up using .mkv's - so it'd be nice to play them on my 360 (without the need of a Blu-Ray disc drive).

That is not the Spring update, only schedule maintencance. Also that last update was November(so fall update) so we are due for one this spring and my guess is sometime in May.
