New Vegas game destroying bug

I cannot get into the New Vegas Strip because the door became locked and a key is needed to open it. This happened randomly. And I cannot get into the strip using the train because it was destroyed in a previous mission. So basically I'm stuck with no way of continuing the storyline. Has this happened to anyone else? This is a great game ruined by terrible bugs.

I have never encountered this issue before. I am on a third playthrough right now and have put in about 75 hours altogether.

There is a third patch coming up tomorrow. I hope it fixes more of the issues.

I found this on the bethesda fallout new vegas forums:

After completing the Debt Collector quest, I'm not able to re-enter the strip.
Our team is looking into this problem. In the meantime, try returning to the strip equipping an Old Cowboy Hat (or McCaffery's Hat).

After completing the Debt Collector quest, I'm not able to re-enter the strip.
Our team is looking into this problem. In the meantime, try returning to the strip equipping an Old Cowboy Hat (or McCaffery's Hat).

I think I killed McCaffery. I remember a mission where you have to kill this guy in the strip and bring his cowboy hat to someone. Do you know where to find an Old Cowboy Hat? thanks for posting!

ya bro, in Primm, 2 rooms before u find the sheriff, there is a hat on the tabled:)

I tried wearing the old cowboy hat but the gate is still locked :( I hope they fix this problem I would like to continue playing this game

Alright I found a way into the strip! The robots in front have the key so at first I just killed them all but then I gained infamy with the strip and NCR and I didn't want that. So instead I sniped one of the robots from a far distance with a silencer and nobody saw anything. I took the key from the dead robot and entered the strip. yesssssssss

Yeah, the only thing is you can't continue on in the game once the game is beaten

Which was a flaw that Fallout 3 suffered from, and I guess Obsidian decided to leave that annoying detail in
