New Xbox coming in 2011?

im reading things on websites (xbox.com bloggers included) and many rumors are swirling around that the next xbox console will be scheduled for 2011 possibly 2012. with sony saying that they want to wait till as late as 2014(i doubt theyll wait that long) and the next wii possibly in the works soon, do u want to get the new xbox at launch and if so what would u like for it to have to upgrade the already decent 360?

PS. i know this is all rumors i just thought it would be fun to have this discussion about the near-future.

ok its not exactly fastly approaching but it is on the horizon. in about 3 or 4 years (possibly 2) there will probably be a new machine out on the market.reviewninja

If the economy is better by then. No reason to sell a new console when a lot of people are broke.

I think it's odd that people add 360 + 360 and say "Oh! The next Microsoft console is going to be the Xbox 720!". I'll be laughing so hard when they announce the next Microsoft console and it's not the Xbox 720 :twisted:

Also, and I hope they release it in 2012. That'll give me enough time to enjoy my Xbox 360 while waiting for the next console :P

At the earliest, I would say 2012. With the economy bad, the RROD just now getting taken care of and the bad consoles fading out, it is not a good time to change systems when the current one is fine. There is much more they can do with Xbox 360. Also, I don't want the next console to be just better graphics, it needs to be an even better entertainment hub. I would like to see a good web browser with keyboard support. There needs to be many more features involved.

On another note, I don't think dvd's are the future for consoles. There will have to be a new format. Something along the lines of the memory sticks would be great, durable, and allow for a smaller console with not dvd drive. Don't know if that will work, but dvd's are getting old.

I kinda want them to make a new system in 2012 but at the same time I rather wait a bit longer I think I invested too much money in my 360 to just junk it and get the 720 (cause we know its gonna be called that) I mean 2013 would be kinda nice.. payne6705

2012 = 6 years, which is kinda reasonable, I wouldn't mind getting a new (hopefully not RROD plagued) console in 2012.xobballox

well as i answer your qustion i would like it if it did not have any of that red ring of death, and for it to have a longer life span than the 360 also for it to have those extra awsome games that have a longer story mode duvalbosnian

i think the games will be available for purchase thru xbox marketplace, order controllers and other accesories. and another plus would be that teens or someone not old enough for a credit card can buy a prepaid card for purchasing games and such on the marketplace (similar to what they have now)

but o man i think they can do a whole lot with the next xbox but thats just me thinking wayy far ahead lol with the economy in a slump it will take a while for the next xbox to come out and on top of that plenty of consumers are happy with the 360.

Well that time line would make sens to me. I mean look at how the 360 did. It released 1 year before the other 2 consoles and Sony/Nintendo still haven't been able to make up the difference... At least I don't think the Wii has caught up yet (I haven't checked the numbers in awhile) xXmeatwad225Xx

its really a large gap from wii to 360 but the PS3 and 360 are some-what close, but your right microsoft kind of benefitted from being first because they one-upped sony as far as sales go.

LMAO, Nope, won't be feeding the con game that is Microsoft and RROD, It amazes me people still denying the blatent cheapness of a product and still want more LMAO.

I'd be ready for 2011. Bring it on.

I still think they're pushing the 360 to new limits. But in 3-4 years, it will probably be unable to compete with the untapped power house PS3. And it will be time for the 360 upgrade. As far as improvements go I want a Higher Capacity Discs like the Blu-Ray discs. Complete backwards compatibility. (With things like games and hardware guitars, drums.) Built in WiFi!!! (Cheap trick charging 100 bucks for a antenna) And I would really like use my console as a computer with my TV. I think Microsoft could handle that.
