So the Xbox has been out for a while now, and usually it's 4 year's till they introduce the new console(right?) Has there been any news when the new one is coming out or anything? Or is it way off and I'm all wrong?

i think we start seeing some new or something maby 2010-2011
then maby 2012
all i know i wont be buying no new xbox when it lauch aleast for few months unless i get a replacemnt plan from best buy or gamestop
(dont tRADE GAMES TO GAMESTOP or buy use ones they rip off's lol thats how they make ther emoney they dont make much from new ones and systems )
I hope it last like the ps2 did, Or longer. Hoping for at least 6 more years. That should hive the like 3 whole years of being able to make Xbox 360 game super good.chaoz-king
6 years? the syetm software and every thing be oput of date by then and game be super good just cause of that time? not how it works
it take technology and money and effort from the gameinging company and good story great ideals and more not just time
games are usely in works for 2-3 years depening on the number of staff some what less staff is better,,, and it take about 1million copies sold to begin makeing money off games
i think we get bad games because companys are lazy,, (sorrt for a exsaple bungie they had all the time and money they needed to make halo greta but you see how that turned out),, and money is other reason,, some get tired of that main ideal then they start not careing and just do there job,, also there some small companysreally dont have much skill or money to make great games,,this where new game makers go to start out then quit and try get in a biger company
thats my opinion
I'll be pissed if they switch out a new system in less than3 years. 360s will lose too much value when their replacements come in, and I don't want to flush that $350+ down the toilet one year before I expect to.Djinnator
yeah well.. welcome in the world of console gaming:P
Hopefully there won't be a new system to quickly alot of people can't afford to buy a new system every 2-3 years...
Although from the looks of it the Xbox360 should have a nice long life...Hopefully

about 6 months for evey single one of them:lol:
;)
remember, this is the next-gen. These consoles won't repeat the same mistakes of the past. At least 3 to 5 more years.martialbullet
the last gen was also "next-gen" :|

your theory is sound, but i just dont think that we will be seeing new consols for awhile at least 2 more years, but really im guessing longer. just because how these consols are going right now. to me it still feels like there getting started. From my observation, xbox revolves around DirectX iterations. Xbox is DX8.1 and Xbox360 is DX9.0c. Note that I specifically put more details on the version because they are much more powerful than the original version. DX8.1 introduce bump mapping. DX9.0c introduce pallalex mapping. Once DX10.x comes out, MS should announce a new Xbox under such specification. It is both to show off DX capability and to push developer to adapt the new DX.
So I think you shouldbe seeing a new xbox announcement next year or later this year.

Wow listen to yourself, if you knew anything about dx10, you would know that it is out... and dx11 will be out in a year or two.

thats kinda the reason why I think there will be a new one in 2-3 years. consoles need to keep up with PC's and vise versa. dont know anything about DirectX lol. but I do know its has been a battle to keep up with PC's since day1. its alwys New console=slightly better than PC ---> New releases of Videocards, better chips, etc (first on PC) ----> the same stuff gets build in consoles= slightly better than PC's----> new videocard, better chips and so on.
In my own opinion, the 360 should last for about like what 5-6 more years, right? Ideas are still boiling up in these weird a$$ developer's minds and the 360 is a great system. Why would Microsoft want to get rid of that? Plus if there are any greater graphics then what we have now...i would rather just look out my window because its going to be the same thing.
[QUOTE="fenwickhotmail"]q4 2010 would be about rightzeelophi actually think q4 2011 or q1 2012
Yeah, I think most of you are crazy. Holiday 2012 is the EARLIEST I think it would happen.
Things have changed with this gen. Next gen gaming has been VERY expensive for devs and consumers. And while technology will always improve, devs haven't come close to tapping this gen and nailing multi-core processing. Plus MS wants to make a profit and even they have stated that the REAL profits don't come until your console hits $199 or lower. They would like to be at that price for probably a good 3 years before starting this whole expensive process over again.
We can't always look at the past as how things will continue in the future. Trust me, this gen will be a game changer. The rules are no longer.
They should sort out the quality issues of the current console before planning for a new one. They need to be built to LAST. I wouldn't expect a new console for at least 3+ years. If there's an announcement that's in the near future, then I'm going to be immensely p***ed off. That would truly be the ultimate disregard for their customers, imo.
I couldn't give a monkeys about arguments regarding DVD space either. DVD will last a LONG time...at least for me -> I defintely won't be buying their next system at launch (not that I did with the 360 and they were still inherently flawed up until only a few months ago and even te Falcon needs to be 'run in'!).
I imagine I'd wait 1-1/2 years before buying into one, especially with the disasterous problems we've suffered this gen. ANY talk of problems such as the RRoD and Microsoft's lost a customer, at least until a reliable system is built. I can wait...and I don't doubt most others will too. I'll be watching to see how Microsoft handles the next one, without much faith.
As much as this post seems fueled with anger, with it partly is regarding the issue at hand, I'm a fairly happy 360 owner, for the moment.Gregoroth
iam just saying but, DVD's wont last for gameing games are starting to get bigger and bigger it's fine for movies, microsft really do need move up aleast to HDDVD rom's
and iam sure stupid microsft wont make a huge mistake with the 360 luanch with a fualty dezine because they have lost 4-5 billion just because of this they still makeing money but ya
i can see my self waiting about 6 months to buy there next system or i areplacement plan from bestbuy or so (only if there some insane games i want)
Actually, it's usually 5. The XBOX was cut short just so MS could get in early. But with the 360 at the level it is, don't expect another console for a while. 2-3 more years, if not more.Rockingtime75
Particularly since their competition is just in its first year, and Sony probably won't be pushing out a new console for longer than 5 years. The R&D costs of console development and the bleeding edge tech that's being put into them is going to end that 5-year-plan that has been going for this amount of time. I'd say that Nintendo will probably be the only company to release a new console within that time span.
Of course, this is assuming that MS doesn't sell the console to another company, like Toshiba as has been rumored.
