So, I have had my xbox for a few weeks now and i was a little curious about the achievements.

Being a PS3 user, I am used to having to sync my trophies. Which means that if i play offline, a sync later on will show my trophies up.

So, if I take my XBOX offline, will the achievements i earn while playing show online when i do connect to live?

I know it's a dumb question, but the auto-sync thing kinda threw me and i wanted to make sure!

Yes, they appear more or less straight away once you're back online. You don't have to wait for them to sync like trophies.

Yep, they are instant, so whenever you get them they appear. Other people won't be able to see your achievements until you log into XBOX Live though.

I am not sure on this but, if you play offlline and get a achievement it will show up for you, and when you decide to get online it will be updated to their website. Sorry if I'm not a big help on this. I don't have a PS3 and my xbox is all ways online.

You can always go to your settings and choose "appear offline" and no one will know you're playing video games. And why would your work know that you're playing video games? Did you give out your gamertag to your bosses? And even if you did, what does it matter? You're free to do whatever you want on your sick days.

So how do you "look good" after calling in sick? Sleep 24 hours to recover? I know that people tend to rest when sick but that usually involves laying down and not being too active. Maybe it won't be the best rest if you are playing a game, but no worse than watching tv; and I can't think of anyone that would condemn someone for watching tv while they are sick or "sick".

Along with that do you mean that they have an Xbox 360 at your job?

Anyway onto the subject at hand. Yes the achievements will show when you log in, but make sure your profile is on your xbox (the most up to date version of it) because I know transferring your profile to another xbox and then returning to the old xbox doesn't save achievements. At least It won't until you recover your profile, but not until then.

Yeah I have to agree with Agent Kaliaver here.. my point stands. Are your co-workers sitting on their Xboxes at work monitoring your gamertag all day? That's pretty ridiculous if that's the case. And a sick day is a day off. You're allowed to do whatever you want on your day off, it doesn't matter if they approve of it or not.

You have to wait to see your achievements?

Sorry, that's pretty funny!

But seriously, no, you don't have to wait at all.

Well,

The thing is, the guys i work with can see if I am online playing games by going onto the live website can't they.

All iI was wanting to do is play xbox without there being a way for my boss to find out! Because while a sick day is mine to do with as i please, When your workmates know you spent it playing games, it can cause an atmosphere if the co-workers are the right(or wrong) mentality.

Anyways,

Cheers for the answers guys, it's much appreciated

Well, what are your co-workers going to tell your boss? That they were goofing off all day on the Xbox Live website and happened to see you online? There are several things wrong with this scenario: 1. Those guys shouldn't be doing that while working. So they won't say anything to your boss in the first place. 2. It's not a crime to be on your Xbox 360 while you're at your own home. You certainly can't get fired for it. There's no justification in the world your boss could use to fire you for that. You could probably sue him for wrongful termination if anything. 3. How do your co-workers know you're the one on your Xbox playing the games? Do you have other people living in your house? How do they know it's not someone else on your Xbox playing? Again, they have no basis to accuse you of anything. And besides.. you're being a little paranoid. You really think they're on the Live website all day just waiting for you to peek your head on Live so they can bust you? I feel sorry for you if you're being that paranoid about this whole thing. And like I said earlier, there is an appear offline option if you want it.. you don't necessarily need to be offline to look like you're offline.

And I took your advice and thanked you for it.

The thing is, you can't really comment n how MY work will take me pulling a sickie and playing games unless you have yourself worked there.

I don't want to sound like a douchebag, but i don't think there is any need for some of your comments.

1. No, they shoudn't be on the live site while working. But they do if we are having a quiet day. Same as i do. Same as i come onto this site if it's quiet at work.

2. No, it is not a crime to be on the xbox in my own home. And I'm not suggesting i would lose my job over it. I am mearly concerned about appearances. If i decide to take the day off of work to play Assassins creed when it comes out. I don't want some muppet in six months time, when i might be sick, going "he is just pulling a sickie, i saw him on xbox when he was off last"

3. they know because the only people that live in my house are me and my wife, and my wife rarely games.

It's not paranoia mate, i was just covering my own ass.

But thankyou none the less for the actual advice you gave me.

I didn't mean to sound like a douchebag either I was just letting you know how most things work. I don't see how any boss could reasonably hold you accountable for being on your Xbox while you're at home. Appearances is a different thing though. I didn't know you were just pulling for appearances. In that case, "appear offline" it is lol.
