Will it take place in space, the future, or will it be Modern Warfare 3?

So how is the Call of Duty gonna go as far as devs now? No more IW so is the ex IW members Sledgehammer? Then Treyarch does their copy and paste thing from the previous cod? And ReSpawned is a new dev from the former head of IW? But i cant wait for a new CoD. At first i hated MW2, but after Blackops came out, i realized how great MW2 was and how the devs from that game aer much better than IW.
The next COD will be made by Sledgehammer games, a company formed by the 2 head developers of Dead Space and it is rumored to be a sci-fi futuristic COD,
I have no idea, I hope activision get sued or something though and have to sell the franchise to valve.
A boy can dream
They can NOT release another Modern Warfare game until the lawsuit with the ex-heads of Infinity Ward is settled, If Activision wins they will make more Modern Warfare games, if Activision loses the suit then Respawn Ent. gains the rights to the Modern Warfare name, story, and characters. You won't see Modern Warfare 3 or a prequal to Modern Warfare 2 until at the very earliest 2012.
I'm guessing Infinity Ward is working on a Modern Warfare 3 to release in November while Sledgehammer is working on their action-adventure for a summer release.
to be honest, i could care less. I'm sick of COD, if they dont change it up in any way, their not getting my cash.TrapMuzik92Ya cause that's why according to your Gamercard located in your signature you have played 2 CoD games recently...

^^^Agreed.
And I agree with the other guy wishing that they would just skip a year for once. Man COD is going to get real old real quick.
From what I've heard:
-Modern Warfare 3 will be the next game.
-It will be developed by Infinity Ward.
-It will be a prequel to Call of Duty 4.
-It will NOT be coming out in 2011.
Strictly rumor, of course, so this is probably all wrong haha. But this is looking promising, if true.
People will buy it.
My friends will buy it.
I'll then shoehorn my $65 for it.
I'll get upset with my purchase, but continue to play it.
^Tis how it was with Black Ops, my first experience, and that's how it will be with future releases in this series.

Your absolutley right. Do you really want to spend more money on an 8th YES 8th next gen CoD. I really wish people would try other games. In fact the impression I get is that I think that others think that CoD is the only game out. We have Ghost Recon, Gears 3, Dead Space 2, Bad Company 3, Bulletstorm, Rage, Brink, Forza 4, Batman Arkham City, Elder Scrolls Skyrim, NFS Shift 2 all coming out in the next 12-18 months plus loads more yet the forum topics are still producing CoD topics. Come on guys lets think of something a bit more origonal to talk about.
I think CoD should take 2011 off and come back in Fall 2012 refreshed and ready. The FPS genre is already overloaded in 2011 with Bullet Storm, Rage, Homefront, Crysis 2, Battlefield 3, Brink, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Dead Space 2 and Im sure more will be announced. Rumors of 343 Industries reworking Halo CE on the Reach engine seem to be picking up steam as well on some sites. What about Ghost Recon Future Soldier? TPS, FPS or both?
Same here. I got maybe 25 hours of play out of Black Ops before I just got bored of it. At first I thought it was me getting bored of the CoD game style, but I have played about 40 hours of MW2 over the last few weeks. If the few issues (noob tubes, knifing, etc.) were ironed out MW2 would be one hell of a good shooter. The only game that has been able to keep my attention longer than all of my CoD play time combined is Battlefield 1943, but that is a different story. So how is the Call of Duty gonna go as far as devs now? There are going to be 2 CoD's released in 2011.
One will be a futuristic one by Sledgehammer Games.
The other will be a Modern Warfare game made by the "new" Infinity Ward.
This has basically already been confirmed just by gleaning from various interviews. I know they said 2 CoD games will be released this year. With delays you never know, but I can guarantee at least one will be released around this coming holiday.

its not old already? :Pim a diehard cod fan ever since i played it on my ps2 but after black ops came out im not buying another cod until i knowits not just some copy and paste job that will be just like the one before it. and as a previous comment stated they cant use the modernwarfare franchise until the lawsuit is over and im hoping that it is a sci-figame because i want some diversity instead ofa cheap money getter
Definition of insanity..continuously buying the yearly cod thinking somehow the experience will not suck.People will buy it.

everyone should boycot the game so they realize making a new cod with little improvements every year is a bad idea and they will actually be forced to take their time on the series and make i game worth $60. however i bet cod fanboys will run out at midnight to buy a repackaged mediocre game yr after yr2pac_makaveliI would love this to happen, but sadly it won't. There will still be millions of people who buy it because it says Call of Duty on the box, which is quite sad, taking into consideration that the next COD game will be the same as the past ones with a few new maps, weapons and a ridiculously short single player. Anyway I heard that the next COD will be a prequel to Modern Warfare 2 which looks at the events of MW1 and MW2 from a different angle, I don't know if this is true because of all the talk about the Sledgehammer title. That just proves what COD has now become, people don't even know which game is coming out because Activision is pumping so many different versions out and for what, money? Surely not.

You do realize IW was the dev team behind MW2 right?
As for the topic at hand, I sincerely doubt the CoD series will go into "space," you're approaching Halo territory in that regard. The futuristic part is viable, although Ghost Recon is already headed down that path. I would expect another similar title to MW2 if I were a betting man.

If they are not producing game titles for money, then what may I ask exactly, is it that Activision is doing in business? I can't wait to read this explanation!

same here other than ive bought other CoDs lol
While it is rumour, it came from the same source as the original rumour for Black Ops, which turned out to be mostly true. Some things were a little off, and I dare say that will be the case again, but it's definitely looking like it might be some sort of MW3. I'm sure the game will be announced soon enough though. From what I've heard:
-Modern Warfare 3 will be the next game.

This is called sarcasm. Of course Activision are releasing Call of Duty games left, right and centre for the money. They are just exploiting the brand name.[QUOTE="2pac_makaveli"]everyone should boycot the game so they realize making a new cod with little improvements every year is a bad idea and they will actually be forced to take their time on the series and make i game worth $60. however i bet cod fanboys will run out at midnight to buy a repackaged mediocre game yr after yrDonutNerdI would love this to happen, but sadly it won't. I don't think a boycott will work, but I have a feeling that after they pump out another game or two, the hype behind the franchise is going to die down. Hype never lasts forever.

I'm stopping at Black Ops, while I'm ahead.
The only reason Activision is pushing for a new COD every year is because they know just like every other year it's going to bust record breaking sales and that means $$$ in hand. Now the company developing it (IW, Treyarch, Sledgehammer) I'm sure they care about us gamers because thats what they are. But Activision will always put buisness before gaming and thats really all they care about..the buisness aspect. And of course that's with other company's aswell. I mean these developers work hard for there games and try and make it the best they can but yet company's like Activision slap there much bigger logo on it and all they did was put out the money for it..which is important but still.
Modern Warfare 3 has been confirmed. I have seen official trailers, (on youtube) and It will be the next Call of Duty released in the series. I hope that the COD game that comes out will be a full-length Nazi Zombie game. Will it take place in space, the future, or will it be Modern Warfare 3?
