It gets passed up a lot in talks about the future of gaming, but I for one want to see the classic controller built upon and not have this kinect garbage take over! I want a new style of input on my next gen controller and an idea I have is to install some sort of "middle mouse roller thing" from a pc mouse on to the top of the controller but have it facing sideways. (Your pointer finger from either hand or whatever way you hold the controller would be able to control it) If you can picture it, it would be located where the xbox 360 word is written on the top of the controller and could hold multiple uses.
I thought of this when I was playing a game of NHL the other day and thought for NHL it could be used to move your characters stick back and forth while continuing to skate. Currently you cannot individually control your stick that precisecly but I believe this would solve that issue and add a whole new dynamic to the game.
It could also be used for plenty of other games even if it is simply used as a browser to scroll through items in a game.
Does anyone have any thoughts to build on my idea or have any of their own to improve the current controller? I would hate to see a carbon copy of the 360 controller. Even from the original xbox they made it more functional by transitioning the black and white buttons to the bumpers they have now.
