I was really looking forward to playing this game but my 360 died the night before I was about to pick it up. So far I've read 2 very positive reviews from teamxbox and ign, it sounds like ea really put a lot of effort into improving the hockey game (plus the demo was awsome). I was wondering if nhl 08 owners could give me details on the online play and the play creator. Is the online play smooth? *looks at madden 08 and frowns* is it glitch free? how extensive is the stat keeping? and how are the online leagues? How hard is the play creator to use? Is it a pain to get all your players set up for the play? is it useful, particularly online? I just bought a 360 off ebay (i'll sell it when my replacement comes in the mail), look forward to seeing you guys online sometime next week!
Its not available to purchase till the 12th which is today...even though it was shipped on the 11th it wasnt released. Atleast thats what gamestop told me when I went yesterday to get it
Can someone comment on the speed of the game? NHL07, even at the fastest game speed settings, was way to slow.

You'll definately find this game to be way to slow then...I turn the 07 settings down from the normal to find it comfortable. 08 is much more simulation then arcade
Might be somewhat off-topic but I can say that NHL 2K8 is not a very good game in my opinion and certainly doesn't have the tactical pace that NHL 08 has (at least from the demo anyway).
I am going to pick up '08 this afternoon for sure and get some good games in tonight. I'm pretty stoked to play a good hockey game.

got my copy yesterday evening, the game is simply incredible....better than i expected, exceeded all my expectations and more. It's much more difficult than NHL 07...people will understand when they play. The demo didn't give a good indication of how intellegent the AI really is...the AI Learning they now incorporated is by far the coolest and best use of AI i've ever seen in any sports title.
just buy the game, its light years beyond what NHL 07 provided us
good to hear.... i'm getting the game for sure but i won't have a 360 to play it on until next week. in the meantime i would love to hear about how useful/tough to pull of the created plays are, and any info you could give me about the online play. thanks.
