AHHH i came home today and found a pleasent suprise!!!!! so for every one else who is a hockey fan what do u think?? me personally i think this is going to be the best hockey game since the mid-90s and that sayin something how about everyone else???call4backup
D@mn I wish I had xbl. I have had it since it came out and recently went back to school. The apartment I am living in has wifi but it is incompatible with xbl.
07 was incredible IMO. I was pumped to see 08 was going to have online seasons but I geuss I'll have to wait until Thankgiving vacation.
I agree that this could be the best hockey game since the mid 90's. The genisis games rocked hard.
Now only if we can make Ovechkins head bleed!
I was one of the few people that didn't like NHL 07. I thought the player animation "ingame" was horrible and didn't run very fluid.
But after downloading this demo, NHL 08 is sure to grace my 360 library. Player animation is much improved and the game runs very fluid. The AI and overall feel of the game also looks like it has been improved. Had fun playing it.
Now if I can only learn the new shotstick.
I live in an apartment with 3 other guys and we played 3 full NHL 07 dynasty seasons without siming one game...to say we have been looking forward to 08 would be an understatement. A few things of note:
-- The better framerate is IMMEDIATELY noticeable...as soon as the puck was dropped, I was in awe.
-- The defensemen actually hold the blue line!! I cannot tell you how annoying (and difficult) it was to really genuinely set up an offense in the zone and move the puck around in 07. This game emphasizes this type of offense and it is welcomed with open arms. Because the defenders hold the blue line, it actually makes dumping the puck a much more reasonable endeavor this time around.
-- Player skating is improved 100%. It feels SO smooth and natural. Skate stopping on a dime and moving in small spaces (like the crease) is much easier.
-- Puck physics are much better, making for interesting deflections and rebound attempts.
-- You can finally dish the puck out with the goalie to where you intended to go. Can't tell you how many cheap goals we gave up because of this problem.
-- Offsides calls along the blue line are much more realistic this year. In 07, the code for offsides was WAY too strict...this season it's more forgiving, like it is in the real NHL.
-- I love the AI all around...it's nice to have to play positional hockey on defense as the computer will move the puck around much more effectively this year.
Overall, I am more than impressed with a demo that offers no options and gameplay tweaks at all. I have had my 08 pre-order in for a few months now and I could not be more excited about picking this up on the 11th. I would go as far as to say that 08 could be the most enjoyable sports title in a few console generations, and possibly ever (barring any kind of major hiccups in the final release).

Exactly...
I bought NHL2K7 soley for the reasons you stated, I though NHL 07 was the inferior game.
But after playing this demo, I definately think NHL 08 is much better than NHL2K7. NHL2K8 will definately have lots on their plate to beat NHL 08.
I can say this title has the potential to rival the old NHL hockey games on the Genesis system.
nhl sucks. sorry :D
maybe ill download the demo tho lol.

Why did you even bother posting if you don't even like the sport?
Anyway, I am also very excited for NHL 08 and the 07/08 season to start. I agree that the game feels much more realistic and the movements are very fluid. And yes, finally we have competent A.I. that can actually do a pretty good job of recognizing opportunities and keeping the puck in the zone.
i'm not the biggest hockey fan and i can say that the demo its amazing, so fun to play 8)
NJ Devils FTW!!!
