Because there are some people who are sensitive to that stuff... and I can respect that. I mean...I haven't done it but it's good to know the option is there.

I don't think merely taking the blood and swearing out of this game makes it remotely suitable for kids ha ha... It's not like they're slingshotting their way to the queen to bring her brownies if you turn the extreme effects off.
And the chainsaws just tickle the enemy til they fall asleep.

ROFL Exactly This is an 18 rated game - turning the language off doesn't suddenly turn it into U rated game for playing between episodes of Barney and Spongebob. If you are worried about what your younger brother/sister sees then they shouldn't be seeing the game at all.

This. Even without blood you're still killing thousands of human-like beings. But I guess that's perfectly fine for kids, as long as nobody swears. And as far as "some people don't like that sort of stuff" goes, why play Gears of War in the first place? There are more suitable games then.

The options are they, but they don't work perfectly. Out of curiosity I checked out the bloodiest level in Gears 2 with the filters on and mountains of blood still remain and some cursing bypasses the filter for osme reason. Of course the filter probably works perfectly in multiplayer, but in campaign in certain scropted sequences I can assure you it does not work.

Agreed that shouldn't have been sold in the first place but, if you believe that swearing and stupidly over the top gore is what a game should be about then kindly take your head out of your arse. The OP may just really like the characters and story and gameplay not just the crazy amount of gore in the game, the reason why you should really play a game, for the immersive experience. p.s this isn't directed at this poster as quoted just in general

i agree with this, taking the swearing and blood out doesnt get rid of all the violence. You can still saw them and give them the old curb stomp!
