Please help I haven't been able to connect to Xbox Live in over a week. It started on 11/13 I have auto sign-in enabled and it just signed on to my gamertag and not Xbox Live. So I unplugged my router and modem, let them sit for about 5 mins. It still wouldn't sign in, I ran the tests and Xbox Live failed, so I called microsoft to make sure my account was up to date. It was and they told me it was just because of the update wait 12-24 hours. So after trying everything from opening ports through my router to clearing the cache on my HD I still can't connect to Xbox Live and today is 11/24.

I don't know what else to try.

Has anyone else had this problem and/or a solution to it?

It could be your ethernet port, ethernet cable or the port in your router that your x-box is conected to. Try switching ports on the router or switching cables. If that doesnt work, I would assume the ethernet port on your x-box is the problem.

Take the ethernet cable going to your Xbox & plug it into your PC to see if your PC can then connect to the network.

The man said XBL failed. Perhaps you got banned? Or connection doesn't support XBL. Check your firewalls. If everything else works other than XBL, your connection should be alright.

exactly. His 360 established a connection to the net (meaning his console obtained an IP address, DNS connection, etc)...if XBL failed, there must be something wrong with your account. Freeing up ports on the router won't correct this issue, otherwise you wouldn't have been able to have your xbox handshake and work with the router (which it is).

I would call MS...are you logging on wireless or wired? Not that it makes that much of a difference...just curious.

Try doing something else with the xbox that would cause itto connect to live, like creating a new live account for example to test whether it's just your account or if it'ssomething else.

I switched cables, ports on the router and still nothing.

I can connect to the internet on my laptop using the same router, when I run the test everything is confirmed except Xbox Live...... it fails everytime.

There's an issue with your account and XBL...it has nothing to do with your physical connection. call MS again...you can keep swapping cables, it won't make a difference. What make router/model you got?

I'm running wired straight to the router.

I tried to create another account after the 4th day and I can't even connect to Xbox Live to create it.

There was always something fishy. When it asks me to run the test to connect I can select Yes, Continue or No, Cancel. If I cancel it automatically signs me out of my gamertag. I thought it was something, but it's probably nothing.

It's the DI-524 Wireless Router, I used to have the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter, but it lagged too much so I just used an ethernet cable instead. I haven't had to update or add firmware or anything since I've had the router and virtually no problems (just had to reset it due to power failure). I've had it for atleast 3 years.

I had an idea to take it to a friend's house who already downloaded the update and use his connection. Maybe that'll work.

Figured it out, it's something internal with my Xbox. I hooked it up here on my office connection and it couldn't connect to Live.

My friend brought his over and he already had the update. I attached my HD and of course it asked me to download the update. I tried to connect to Live and BAM just like that it worked.

I stuck my HD back on my Xbox, plugged it up and it went back to the Old dashboard and still couldn't connect to Live.

Of course I'm out of warranty so it looks like I'll just get a brand new one. Thanks for the Help and Suggestions

Sounds like somekind of software problem on your 360. Try clearing the cache.

I did that on my third call to $Moneysoft trying to get this worked out.

It just puzzles me that the product built for a certain network can't recognize it's own network. Pretty sad.

Could be that the ports are not being forwarded correctly on your router. Which step is failing in the connection test?
