You need to wirelessly connect to a PC (through your wireless router) or your Zune to listen to MP3. It does NOT store MP3's on your 360 hard drive. Also, you have to buy the wireless adapter (around $100 at Gamestop) for your 360, keep that in mind.

You can store music from CD's you currently own but you can't delete single tracks all have to be deleted at once and you can stream Videos music and pictures from you computer or a device. The computer one can be done by ethernet or wifi adapter. For video storage and pictures. Videos off of XBL Marketplace can be stored on the hard drive. and gamer pictures only.

So if you cant store regular audio cds on the Xbox, obviously you cant store MP3s.

It has been rumoured that with the next Live update (this Spring) what you aim to do will be possible.
