Ok, i'm thinking about getting a premium 360 when the price drops, but obviously i have questions:

1. Can i connect the 360 to a wireless laptop to connect to the internet?

2. What's the difference between the whole Gold, and Silver versions of XL?

I might have more questions later, but thanks if you answer these.

1. 360 isn't wireless, $100 for the official wireless adapter. 2. There's only Gold and Silver. Both can do everything, except Gold is needed to play online.

1. Do you mean wireless internet?? Or controllers? The premium comes with a wireless controller. For wireless internet, a wireless adapter is needed. The MS brand one is an extra $100. I have it, it works great, and i very rarely experience any lag (if so it is usually because the server sucks, not my connection). I believe you can buy some after market ones, but i do not know for sure. 2. There is simply Gold and Silver for online service. Gold costs $49 a year and allows for online gaming as well as downloading demos etc etc. Silver is free but does not allow for online gaming. As far as the other differences i would check xbox.com for exactly what each has, i just pay the $49 a year and enjoy the best online gaming on a console there is, so i don't really know what silver offers.

Ok, thanks for the useful reply.  This brings up another question:

Can i connect the 360 to a laptop that is wireless to play online?  I REALLY hope so.

Yup, that'll work. 1)No, the 360 is not wireless. It sells various wireless periphrials. 2) Never heard of platinum...Silver comes withall the 360 consoles. It will only let you download content and not play online. Gold memberships allow downloaded content and multiplayer via Live.

1. costs $100 for the wireless adapter, but you can get it for less, probably, off ebay or newegg.com 2. gold - you have to pay for it, you can play online and you get demos earlier. silver - you can play mmos, go to the marketplace, but you have to wait a little longer for the demos.

Just get a WiFi adapter or hardwire the 360. I dont know why you would want to piggy back off a laptop, that is the most retarded thing I have heard.

Not really sure if you can do this or not....I would have to assume no, but hell what do i know? Only thing i can suggest is try to move your wireless router to a place where you can hook your 360 up to it with a cable if not. Good luck with that man.

Do you think there is a reason why it wouldn't work. The laptop is getting internet so you'd think it'd work with the 360. Is there some special way you have to connect the 360?

I had a wireless router already.  Instead of paying $100 for the 360 wireless adapter, I bought another $40 wireless router, that had the capability to be set up as a wireless bridge to my first router.  Used the supplied network cable to connect my 360 to the second router.  Works great.  Also, I now can hook up to 3 other X-Boxes to the second router for system link parties.  More function for a lot less money.

Can anyone provide a reason why hooking a 360 to a wireless laptop that is recieving Internet WOULD or WOULDN'T allow the 360 online capabilities.

You can connect the 360 to the laptop and share the connection and get online no problem. Most people usually don't want to turn on the laptop just get the 360 online, so they buy a wired or wireless router and use them mutually exclusive from each other..

You need to get a wireless adapter for the 360 to make it wireless. There's also no browser built in, if that's what you're asking. Silver XBL is free and lets you download expanded content, demos and games and so forth. Gold lets you do all that, but also lets you play online multiplayer and post your scores to online leaderboards. That's $50 a year and highly recommended.

Ok, thanks.  That helps me a lot.  I hope there isn't much lag.
