I watched the video and checked out all the screen shots for the "new" Halo and it looks (once again) like a tweaked version which was copied (once again) from the origional game template. I mean it looks like the origional or even.... worse? Needless to say, I was less than impressed.

If the "new" Halo arrives without online co-op (which utilizes the entire games maps instead of the ridiculous arena frag stupidity) I will not be waiting in line at the game store at midnight this time!

Halo 2 stunk because of it's half done story line and the over used cartoon cut scenes which did more to suffocate the gameplay rather than advance the plot, not to mention the games abrupt (to put it mildly) ending. If I wanted to sacrifice game length for cartoon movies, I'd rent a dvd. And it also suffered due to the missing online co-op.

Bungie surely hit a home run with the first game. I have well over 1000 hours on that game. But the second game I played through once and never played it again.... it was that big of a dissapointment.

The more than excellent games such as Clancy's blockbusters have turned up the heat on Bungie. If Bungie expects to reclaim the title of industry best, they had better rethink releasing a half done, carbon copy of the origional game which is ........ old.

A note to Bungie: No excuse laden DVD this time PLEASE!

If I have to hear one other person complain about Halo 2 I swear to God. Dude don't complain about Halo 2 alright everyone was disappointed, if you're any kind of Halo fan you wouldn't have made this post, because there is 2-4 online co-op and this is the FINAL game in the trilogy meaning no cliff hanger Bungie has already made it clear Halo 3 will be much different than Halo 2, but there will be some unanswered questions at the end in the traditional Bungie style.

Ive been lucky enough to get in the beta for halo 3, and I can honestly say you're absolutely wrong on every subject TC. Graphically its a great game, the videos and pictures simply don't do the game justice. And guess what? They're not even the final game's graphics, so they'll get even better.

Gameplay is just jaw dropping. Words cannot describe how much better halo 3 is over the crap that we call halo 2.

I could spend hours writing up a much more detailed post on why halo 3 will be THE game to buy this year, but I'll just say that the game is amazing, and you shouldn't comment on something you haven't played yet.

if halo 3 does not offer more features then 2 or even goldeneye then i will not be impressed ,lets put halo and goldeneye s originallity agianst one another , hmm dual weapons , goldeneye did that no ai in multi goldeneye did that   graphically yes halo is better in that department , but the multiplayer game itself doesnt appear to differ much from goldeneye/ts in fact goldeneye is still the top shooter every one tries to clone, just recently rare released classic maps for pd0 from goldeneye and pd , hALf life 2 has a mod based on goldeneye ts looks and plays alike goldeneye pd , so with out a doubt goldeneye and halo have many things in common they both sold well  played good , just halo needs the ai to go against others like pd0  or even ts

so true, it brings nothing new to the table. Theres so much hype, all it is, is a clasic shooter.....a clasic shooter. You know, bang bang dead guy, oops im dead oh hey i just recarnated a few feet from my last position and hey, i just avenged my own death....for the cabillionth time. But i mean its a clasic shooter, and it does that well. And its found extremely fun for many and thats the main thing.

cheers all!

Bungie should be very scared right now because heaven knows that if Halo 3 does not get approval from dinkabusdog it will fail miserably and everyone will hate it just because he says so. (Note sarcasm, for the intellectually challenged)

i got 2 things to say.
1) i think halo gets better every release, graphics wise and gameplay wise.
2) the guy who posted the 2 pictures of halo and halo 3 beta, lol i saw that and halo looks ancient compared to halo 3 beta. i'm so used to such great graphics on my 360 that i forget how xbox/ps2 games look like. lol when i play BC xbox games i feel like im playing a psp game :P
halo 3 looks awesome and if you ever play valhalla, the water effect is so sick. one time i died in the water and the sound of gunfire is dimmed out by the water. also if im far away from a gunfight, the sound is sick.

Gameplay wise, most definitely YES. Graphics wise, obviously not. Give me Halo CE live enabled and I'd take that over H2 or H3 without a second thought. Gameplay is more important to me than graphics.

lol!! how can you go abotu saying that halo3 looks worse than halo 1? that dosent make any sense at all. And what do you expect bungie to do? create a whole different kind of halo that plays completely different form the others? this a HUGE game if you havent noticed so im pretty sure that bungie is going to try and stick to whats familiar with thier fans it only makes sense. have you even played the beta yet?

They're not finished with the game yet so don't go around judging it. Besides who cares how the game looks as long as it is fun and Halo 2 was fun. Bungie has also stated numerous times that Halo 2 was finished too early and that they didn't get to complete it or add in as much as they had wanted too. Now they have had all the time they have wanted and haven't been rushed to finish the game in time for a specific release date.

Actually, the new lighting effects add to the gameplay, whether people realize is or not, and the new 'equipment' add so much more to the game it barely feels like Halo 2 when you're playing, which everyone says (like you) that's it's just a copy.

It's not a copy, and I mean that cincerely.  The game plays way different, and requires much more skill than previous titles.  Vehicles are harder to pilot, weapons are more difficult to use, head shots are more like fore-head shots, and the equipment just mixes everything up.

Before you start talking about the game, play it for a bit.  Don't just sit there and play it, but anylise what you're doing.  Pay attention to how the game is playing.  Ask yourself "does this feel like Halo 2?  Or does this feel like something more?"  Halo CE was know for making people who weren't good at FPS... good at FPS, because it was a simple game with powerful weapons that made the average joe feel powerful. Halo 2 changed that a bit, moving on the more skill based combat, but still staying true to the easy-to-pick-up Halo formula.  Now, with Halo 3, it's not really as simple a game.  There isn't any one weapon that makes you feel like you can take on the world.  You can't just point a shoot; skill and effort are involved for anything, not just expert play.  As stated earlier, head shots are really something to brag about now, as they are more difficult to accomplish.

Also, on a map like Snowbound, if your fighting underground, and someone's set off an Energy Drainer and all the lights and cool stuff have stopped working, the combat does change a tad bit.  Nothing big, it's just your less likely to be shot in the face, as everything gets pretty dark, and the only thing that set's a spartan off is their lights on their armor.  And I don't know if anyone else noticed, but if you transition really quickly from dark to light, or vice versa, it does take a second for the screen to readjust.  It's a really cool effect, like if you were inside all day then walked out in the sunlight.

It's a different game.  Halo 2 wasn't Halo 1.5, and Halo 3 isn't Halo 2.5.  Hell, if fighting games can get away with adding a fighter here and there, and racing games can get away with a few more care and a few more tracks, why can't people acknowledge a shooting game for having a totally revamped weapons and style system in multiplayer?

Well of course it looks like other Halo games.  It is because this IS a Halo game.  DUH!  What do you think Gears of War 2 will look like?  My guess is real close to Gears of War.  Besides the point you and most everyone who plays X-box Live is going to buy this game regardless.

true..

All I can say is well spoken. All I can add is that at this stage the Halo 3 beta is VERY well balanced. A couple of months ago I went back and played the Halo multiplayer with a few friends and its still great, and I noticed that Halo: CE was a much better balanced game than Halo 2. So then when I played the Halo 3 beta, one thing that made me feel comfortable is that not one time playing the beta have I said **** and believe me when I tell you I say **** everytime I play Halo 2. Halo 2 is a great game, I still play it online. But Im not gonna lie to anyone because after over 2 years with the game, the auto aim, strangely balanced weapons, and going back and playing Halo: CE, its clear now that Halo 2 could have been better than what it is. And the wrongs in Halo 2, I am confident after playing the Beta, Halo 3 will make right. The changes that Ive seen so far are actually huge in terms of how u think, and play. No more auto aim, the plasma pistol doesnt track as easy as it used too(In fact I think you have to be relatively close and from what Ive seen it locks on like the rocket launcher did in Halo 2 but not nearly as quick.), the sniper rifle shoots slower, shields deplete faster, and melee attacks dont lock on and you cant slide across the floor 5 feet with them anymore, and the list could go on. And I dont know what kind of tv's people have been playin the Beta on, but the graphics are wonderful, and completely outclass Halo 2 and a lot of xbox 360 games and it isnt even done. But the graphics are a bonus, if it looked like Halo: CE I would still play it if the gameplay was great because thats what really matters. And its not about adding some new gimmick to the game, its about reinventing the wheel, and Halo 3 continues to do that. Plus, there will be online coop because it was supposed to be in Halo 2, so if thats what you are looking for it SHOULD be there because it is almost a standard in shooters now. But before anyone decides to bash Halo 3, give it a shot first.8)

dude....go play the BETA....vids and screens realy don't do this game justice even on an SDTV. not only that but i was surprised at how differently it plays while still keeping the !CORE! gameplay mechanics. if you have not played it, go buy crackdown and play it NOW it's insane how much fun it is, and i'm still not bored of just 3 maps. and if you go and tos nades into the river in valhala and still think it looks bad...well then you just need you eyes tested!

What about the sp campaign. There is no info on it yet people are making there judgements on the game. For halo 2 people hated the the campaign but for halo 3 its the graphics. People will ALWAYS find anything to complain about. If it was all about graphics motorstrom would be a AAA.
