Hai!

As any other xbox owner I'm concerned that my xbox, had it since launch, could get the red rings. So I figured to buy the intercooler, but lately I've heard that it damages xboxs. So my question is can anyone confirm this? I just rather know before I purchase something will eventually make my waste even more cash.

Any information given will be greatly appreciated!

I heard that it lasts around three months or when it gets noisey and you'll need to buy a new one after that.

Well I have known three people who used them, and their 360's broke. But Nyco just came out with their new EX eddition, but I don't know how well they work. But me I would stay away from them.

I usually don't play a lot, maybe 5-8 hours a week. But when a new game releases I can get hooked for maybe 6-7 per session. My friend got his intercooler a few weeks ago I guess I'll use his xbox as my test subject :P hehe

In my opinion, you don't really need it. Just keep your 360 in a well ventillated area and stand it up in the vertical position and you should be ok.

its loud to the point where you want to break it. i took mine out and has been out for months now. My xbox still works just fine. IMO it brings more heat into the console.

my friend had the inter cooler and first time he used it 4 hours into play, it was melted to the back of the system, and i guess, between the cooler and the system, it will turn black, so its a cheap upgrade to an elete i guess

i have a nasty habit of falling asleep during late game play, and it will run for about 12 hours, no problem, and i do not have a cooler, just well ventilated, and a 20in box fan to move air around the room

My 360 died when it had the intercooler on it. If you really want to buy one, buy one that plugs into the usb port. NOT THE POWER SUPPLY!

The intercooler is a waste of money, imo. Why spend money on something that is supposed to keep your system cooler, when you can simply move your console to a area that is well ventilated. The best advice i can give judging from what I've heard on these forums, is to stay away from that intercooler if you want to keep your warranty on your xbox360.

Here is the skinny. I have a nyko cooler and it did help, but if you have a malfuncioning xbox it will be inevitable that it breaks down. Just make sure you get an extended warranty. Save your money when it comes to buying it.

neither, its blowing on me, but its pullin the warmer air away from the tv, stereos, cable box,and pcs.and my room is 10x10, and i keep the door closed, so it pulls the air into a cyclone sort of thing, when i get my desktop working again, i can send you pics

Avoid the Nyko Intercooler like the plague. When it fries your Power Supply, you wont be hearing anything.

This past Christmas, my brother got one of those things and attached it to our Xbox 360... Two days later we returned it for a refund.
Out of those two days our 360 experienced tons of red light errors or overheatings, freezings, and even shutting off in the middle of gameplay greeting us to red rings. Thankfully the 360 started working again after we removed that piece of crap.
Before hand, our current360 had never experienced problems our failures like this. Irony?
Also, using an Intercooler voids warrenties. So if one still has high risk (If not, higher risk) of having a broken system with using an Intercooler, is it worth it in the end?

Nyko Intercooler = a piece of garbage that doesn't deserve to be on store shelves.

The intercooler doesn't have a dust filter, so over a few months, it'll actually make your 360 perform worse. I've even heard reports of the intercooler being 'melted' to the 360 due to the dust problem.

I used to have one, but took it off, and my 360 practically worked better.

dont use the nyko intercooler or any intercooler that needs to be attached to the console. It freakin damages the console. Ihave an EX but i took it off since i did not want to risk my 2nd xbox360 frying up.The logic that the intercooler steals power from the 360 makes a lot of sense since if parts of the console do not get enough power it can cause a short circuit. What im doing now is put a mini fan in the direction of the air vent beside the hard drive to help cool the graphics chip and dvd drive since they are actually in the same area. The graphics chip just directly below the dvd drive. By cooling the dvd drive it cools the game dvd inside avoiding problems with the disk.

I had one, but after about 6 or more months of usage my power cord kept slipping out ever so slightly causing my system to shut off, so I just took it offabout 3 or 4 months ago and my 360 has been fine

My elite 360 has been working fine for months now. My room is kept cool, or rather it's always cool and freezing no matter what you do. You have to keep your consoles well ventilated, also go buy some cans of compressed air and clean out your consoles air vents with it. I did an it helps a lot, or you can vacuum the vents that works well too, weird but it works. I have had 3 RROD so far, but those were all the non elite 360s so I guess that tells me something.... I don't trust buying this thing because it just sounds like a waste of money and a void of warranty on your console. I at times have a fan blowing at the PS3 or 360 at the vents so that it takes in super cold air and is cooled all the time, it really helps at times when I game heavily. The whole point is to keep your consoles well ventilated, vents very clean and cleaned regularly, and to never waste money on things like intercoolers because they are the causes of console deaths.
