NZ to get Australian GTAIV edits

Well people who live in nz like me, have recently ben informed that we will also be getting Australias (Censored word) edit of gtaiv. I officialy now hate Australians rating system. I canceled my pre-order. I refuse to play the game if its any less then perfect :(BlindEffekt

I was just about to make this thread haha, you beat me to it. I know it sucks aye, i was surprised but apparently all NZ retailers are getting the australian edit of GTAIV. I wish there was some way to find out how much they cut out. It hasn't put me off getting the game but if i find that there has been major content cuts ill just go trade it back in.

mmm my guess is that they might take out things to do with strip clubs, or killing hookers after having some fun lol, pretty sure the aussies did that for san andreas. I would be gutted if they take out the gore, although in previous ones there were cheats to put the gore back in. What i can't understand is why we are getting the australian edit. NZ uses the NZ classification, so it seems weird that all of a sudden we just aren't bothering. I'll wait until there is an announcement as to what is cut out of it, if it is anything significant ill refund my copy and import one.

Where did you hear this? I just rang 2 EB Games stores and they both said we're getting the normal version, not the fruity Aussie version. If we're getting the lame version I will be getting my $150 back from EB. ****ing censorship. We have normal ratings here (up to R18 ), while in Aussie they only have up to MA15+. There is no reason whatsoever that we should be getting their version.Taegukki

I have just perused the Australian and NZ EB Games websites. GTA in Aussie is MA15+, and R18 here. If you preordered from GPStore, do you have any proof that it will be the Aus version? Did they email you or something? Our classification systems are completely different, there really is no reason for this.

I just rang my EB (they didnt answer first time so I rang 2 others) and they said they have heard this and have emailed their supplier asking if it is true. I suspect it will be. I will be cancelling my preorder if it is (it isnt looking good). I paid the whole thing off in cash too, if they dont give me my money back I will be returning with my lawyer.

Don't worry, if you want a refund you can get it credited to your bank account or get it in cash (although if they dont have enough in their tills which they don't always have you will have to get it in your bank). But anyway this is pretty bad news, better off just ordering from overseas.

From what i know, the xbox 360 won't need a mod chip, so you should be able to play other PAL versions e.g. Europe ones (that havn't been edited). I'm not 100% sure so some research would be wise before actually doing that.

Apparently there will only be a cutscene missing from the AUS/NZ version, in which a man gets a baseball bat shoved up his arse. If its just a cutscene then that will be okay with me. We really need some details on what's being cut, but Rockstar refuses to say. Theyre just in it for the money and dont want to ruin their sales record theyre hoping to set.

Since the game has online play however, I dont expect any of the actual gameplay to be altered, as that would cause problems while trying to play with people who dont live in Aus or NZ. Does anyone know what was taken out of San Andreas? We may endup with something like that. Perhaps you cant pick up hookers in the cut version or something. I suppose I could live with that, its a waste of time anyway. I only picked them up so I could run them down afterwards and get my money back. Maybe now ill just cut to the chase and run them down from the get go. I dont think any of the blood effects will be changed or anything though.

Lol i think the thing about picking up hookers and killing them afterwards is what was taken out of the Aussie version of san andreas. I think you are right about only one cutscene being cut from gtaiv, i heard that as well. If that is the case then i would probabaly stick to the NZ version however I'm sure rockstar will release a statement (probabaly after its release) on what is cut out so as long as you dont play it before they release it then you can refund lol. I wouldn't really want to pay more just for one cut scene anyway since cost of freight and exchange rate prices will probabaly end up costing alot more than most prices in NZ.

RAWR HULK SMASH HULK BASH. Mmm that would suck if they did although from what i know the gore was already toned down from gta san andreas. Lets just hope if they do tone down the core it will have cheats like the previous GTAs to put gore back in it.

So the Aussies and New Zealanders would be playing together in their own servers? I highly doubt it. From the reviews I have read, it seems the gore is more realistic anyway. If Australia lets games like COD 4 get passed without censorship (that game has quite a lot of blood effects) then I doubt theyll really tone down GTA 4.

Mmm i doubt there will be seperate servers, kind of defeats the purpose of playing against anyone, anywhere on xbox live although if this has been done before with other games then it could still possibly happen. October_Tide

ohhh ok i never thought there had been games like that before, argh annoying to find that out, but i guess we will neevr know what they have done until they tell us.

i really hope it is only the cutscene thats been taken out and in all honesty i dont really want to see someone have a bat shoved up their ass...

if thats all it is i cant understand why rockstar didnt just say it so my guess is maybe a weapon or the hooker feature, but it if it was anything more than that like blood effects or somthing else i can imagine it causing problems in online play. as people have said, sure they could make special servers but i just think it could kill some of the potential for multiplayer if we can only play with aussies.

any way i hope its only the cutscene but otherwise we'll have to wait for a statement from rockstar or find out on the 29th or 30th, fingers crossed.
