Just hit my 1,000th save in Oblivion (for 360, anyway), distributed over nearly 300 hours of play time. This game is great way to sink some time.
I know some of you out there probably have some crazy high number of saves. How many?

I beat you with over 1,043 saves in Fallout 3 with only roughly 45 hours of gameplay. I get very paranoid lol.craigalan23that's a lot. I had like 125 saves. Did not save a lot until my friend told me terrible stories. Had like 25 saves halfway through entire game.

Yeah i was slightly paranoid over that too that's why i had three save slots being used.
Well, I came from playing Morrowind, and unlike Oblivion, it doesnt periodically autosave, and I just got into a habit of saving all the time. I have like 900 saves but i havent even played shivering isles at all yet.DiccalfI recommended you go and download that; it's a great expansion pack.

Definitely get that expansion. Oblivion is my favorite game in the 360.
Im at 650 saves on Oblvion with about 140 hours
and im at like 150 save on fallout with about 35 hours of gameplay.
I only have around 400 saves on my 200 hour character. I still need to go back t beat the rest of those side quests.......................limpbizkit818It is really hard to grasp the amount and time that was put into making Oblivion or any RPG for that fact. It is absolutely mind blowing!
How didn't you complete the game 100% already. It only took my 95 hours and I had less then 200 saves.MJ_SPARTANBecause that nearly impossible to do. I guarentee that you did not do everything there is to do in the game. And also you can make you own fun in this game.
Wow, how much memory does that take up? Plus are you at least maxed out after 300 hrs?

It only takes a lot of harddrive space if I keep all 1,000 saves. Oblivion numbers your saves, so even if I keep saving over the same file over and over again, I still know how many times I've saved. As it is, I keep a file every 100 saves, in case the game glitches on me. Saves don't take up much space, relative to other things you're likely to put on your disk, like movies, demos, and game expansions.
I'm not maxed out. Those 300 hours are split between two characters.

Indeed. MJ Spartan, I think you're confusinig "Complete the main quest" with "Complete the game 100%." There's a big difference.
i always resave over past files so i only have around 6 saves for each game (i have 2 saves for all play thrus)
i like to keep my saves organized, and i dont think i could do that with a 1000 plus saves lol.
plus i only got like 150 hours in fallout and maybe 200 in oblivion

With 95 hours committed, I wouldn't be surprised if he completed most of the game (not all though). The main quest is rather short and I completed the main quest, everything for 1 of the guilds, loads of exploring, starting up with the 3 other guilds, etc in less than 50 hours. It depends on how you travel, how tedious you make the quests, if you know what your doing, etc.

I completed the main quest in less than 40 hours and still managed to do quite a bit of other things.

I've seen speedrunners do it in under 20 minutes. Whoopie. You can't explore most of the game world without devoting a large amount of time to the game, even if you do fast travel everywhere. More to the point, if I like to take my time, then I like to take my time. Someone seemed to think I was doing something "wrong" for not having beat the game already. I'm not running a ****ing race. I already beat it on PC, and now I'm going back through and doing things very thoroughly.

i agree, i spent so many hours on my third char power levelling him, hes now level 33 with 100 in all stats except personality and luck as well as 100 and 75+ in most attributesI'm more or less leveling efficiently. I'm getting +4/+5 increases in each stat every time I level up. I'm not going out of my way to level up with perfect efficiency, as I find that breaks roleplaying.Palantasthats what i did with my second char, but i wanted my last one to be perfect, which so far he is, gear and all, cant really be beaten
I don't know why they don't have a quick save button for these games on consoles.FamiBoxI'm guessing because almost all the button would be assigned to certain actions in the game so there would not be any button left for auto-save
