Just go to the Market District in The Imperial City. The respective shops (weapons, jewelry, etc.) will buy the stuff you want to sell, as long as it isn't stolen. Shops, for the most part, won't buy stolen stuff. Anything with a red hand next to it in your item inventory is stolen.

Right, or take it to one of your houses... like if you've bought any in the game, or in real life, if you've purchased the Wizard's Tower or any of those sorts of add-ons.

You could also just drop stuff if it isn't worth any money. Just find it in the inventory, and then you can press the "Drop" button to drop it where you stand. This is useful when you have useless crap taking up weight in your inventory.

Imperial City, market disctrict. On the left side there's a store ran by 2 brothers (sorry its been a while and I don't remember the name), but they buy anything in your inventory.

yeah... that bugs me as well. But as you go deeper into Cyrodil's world you'll get powerfull and powerfull, and you'll realize that some stuff aren't just worth it.

Things one must have ALL the time, "repair hammers" (I'm almost a Master Armourer, and by then I should need only one, but it's been 182 real time hours...); spare cuirass, boots and helmet; lockpicks; 50 + 50 health and sorcery potions; a few poisons (silence's the best for some tricky foes), cure poison and cure disease (a must if going into vampire infested dungeons!) - a few... maybe 5-6 should do it.

Try to buy a house, because, if you, like me, enjoy collecting some nice trophys (like the Dragon Armour. At the time I allready had a better one, but had to kept that for me!), a house is the best place to store them.

As long as your items are not stolen...I reccomend the blacksmith in Anvil...He has a 1200g limit which is as high as it gets with out high level mercantile skill...(as far as I know)....he is also easy to persuade and increase your barter% to get the most dough outta lightening your load

I have a dilemma of my own by the way....I just completed Knights of the nine....but I HATE the helmet...it looks so silly!  Does anyone know if/where I can find a White colored hood?  I would love a hood that matches the crusader tabard with a decent sigil stone on it!  Plus it fits my battle-mage motif...does anyone have any info?  Do white hoods even exist in the game?

Yes some hoods do exist but they are usually part of a robe.  If you want to look bad assed then I suggest killing an Order Priest in Shivering Isles and then taking the hood and a sigil stone and making your own magical item.  The Order Preist hood is actually more of a mask but its totally bad assed looking.

When you do the Mages Guild quests (finish it) you're given a hood. I'm pretty sure it's white, but not completly sure...
