Money is so easy to make man......... Go hunt down as many plants/herbs as you can and then make them all into potions... then u can sell them all for great prices...  Can also get money from fighting in the Gladiator rings..... Also selling weapons or stuff you steal from houses you can sell. But yeah try making hte potions one.. i get alot of money from all my potionsi sell... plus its fun looking for tons of herbs in the forests (:

Okay, for locks use the skeleton key. Just look up a guide and it can tell you where to get it. Also if you join the mages guild you can make a spell that can get people to like you . . . of course you will have to SAVE a little bit of money by doing some dungeoning. or you can play the mini game which you get people to like you. I haven't played the game in a while so I can't remember the spell names or what that stupid minigame is called.

There is a range of spells you can buy for opening locks.  But the two best ways to gain the coin are - making potions and selling the stuff from people you kill.  Alternatively go bear or moutain lion hunting - -their pelts are worth 10 gold each.

make a dark elf battle mage.  never fast travel,  always run from city to city,  defeat the bandits and highway men along the way and loot them.  when you get to the city sell all the loot you dont want to keep for money.  sell the arrows one at a time,  it's increase your merchantile much faster and let you sell the same item for more money,  it rises buy how many sales you make,  not the amount of money you make.   selling a 200 arrow quiver one at a time is 200 sales,  sell it 200 at a time is 1 sale.  level up your strength as fast as you can.  it'll do more mele damage and allow you to carry more loot.  loot everything,  even the animals have meat or pelts you can sell.  when there is more loot than you can carry choose to keep the items that are most expensive per pound.  set your marker to you current location,  fast travel to the nearest merchant, sell, fast travel back get the rest of the loot, fast travel back to the merchant, sell,  then fast travel back and continue running to your original destination so you'll encounter the most bandits.   dont want to miss that loot.

also save finishing the main quest for last,  once you finish the main quest the oblivion gates stop opening,  and thats where you get them most daderic wepons which sell for the most money.

If you do nothing but collect lockpicsk you can amass a ton of them, I use the x button and it doesn't count them as broken. Its weird, I also sell as much crap as I can as often as I can to the same person so your mercantile goes up with them and you can barter better.

Yes, just work your way up, getting stuff and selling it. No-risk, low-payoff booty sits in boxes and barrels all over the city (it's not stealing if the red symbol doesn't show up). That's a good way to start, if you've got very little to sell. Booty in the caves, forts and dungeons becomes more valuable as you improve. Loot the bodies of whoever you kill and keep the stuff that has high value-to-weight ratio so you can carry more stuff back to the cities and sell it. If you find you're getting over-encumbered too quickly, invest in some feather potions and spells, or a Ring of Feather, if you can find one.  Use the "haggle" feature when you sell stuff to the stores, or else you won't get a good value for your goods.  You can even get less than half of what they are worth if you don't haggle. Don't waste money.  If you have bad speechcraft or personality, don't try to bribe people. Use spells like "captivate" or "Voice of the Emporer" instead. Don't buy a horse or a house until you have lots of money to throw around--they're expensive and you don't really need them. Sell everything you don't need.  If you find shopkeepers who like you (especially among the smiths/armorers/weapons merchants) stick to them to get maximum money for your goods. Try regularly haggling towards a higher price often, as they will like you more the more you visit.  If you have really fancy items with fancy names that you're not using, don't bother keeping them.  Sell them and get the money.  The game won't let you drop or sell things you need (quest items). There are lots of opportunities to make money in Oblivion, you just have to follow through and take each of those opportunities.

That may mean you've collected the "skeleton key" and just don't realize it.  If you sell it or drop it, see what happens--you may notice a difference in the appearance of your lockpick and they will start breaking again. That's because if you have a skeleton key in your inventory, you automatically are using this instead of lockpicks.  Check it out, it might be a glitch, but I doubt it.

it isn't the skeleton key, I do have it on one character but not the current one that I use. I just joined the brotherhood and kept on buying them. I did a lot of dungeons and kept pressing x, it helps raise your security by doing this. I may be a glitch where it doesn't record it, but I was at level 5 and my security is only at 47.
