I must admit that I enjoyed Oblivion a lot more on the PC after installing mods like Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul. It addressed the issue of creatures levelling with your character, among other things, and I had a mod that slowed down skill progression as well. Made it a much more enjoyable experience for me, and I invested over a thousand hours into the game (across several characters doing different quest-lines).
Anyway, the game is still great whatever the platform, and I don't know why so many people seem to dislike it or rag on it so much. It may not have the depth of some other 'traditional' RPGs (in terms of the questlines), but I liked the 'sandbox' nature of it and just exploring the world, finding new things to do. I did miss the lack of any underwater locations to explore, though (which were more prevalent in Morrowind).
The Shivering Isles expansion is also very good, and highly recommended.
