I prefer Mass Effect over Oblivion. If I was you I would get Mass Effect.

If you take Mass Effect's experience and add about 100 hours, that's what Oblivion has been for me, although I do think that it is harder to get into than ME

both need to be played...mass effect 2x...so much better the second time through using the same character from the first time through on the hardcore setting, keep all your abilities...get charm and intimidate options from the beginning of the game...opens up many different results.

Well I've only played Oblivion so I can't really say which is better but trust me, if you're just starting it out, the game will get a lot better. It is probably the deepest game on the 360 and will be for quite some time.

Oblivion, deep?

Don't get me wrong, I love Oblivion but everything in the game was just so ridiculous. The crappy persuasion and leveling, 7 different voice actors, giant empty world that extends it's length by having you walk places. Morrowind was a much better game. I'm going with Mass Effect.

Yea Oblivion's story line wasnt deep at all, it was good but not great.

I have both games, but Oblivion definetly has more hours to pack, ive put over 90+ hours in Oblivion.

Mass Effect is also freakin sweet because I will prbbably play again after i finish my first time.

They are both different games. They both have some good stuff and bad. I liked oblivion better, because I just liked the whole exploring dungeons thing and swords and armor stuff.. Mass effect is a great game, you should not miss out in playing both of them.

in my personal taste i would choose mass effect because it's up my alley. Sci-fi, save the galaxy, shooter and it's awesome. Oblivion is awesome too but I couldn't really get into it. I put about 20 hours into it and that was it. Both are must own's in my opinion.

They are fairly close in overall quality. However Oblivion is 1-200 Hr.s of Good gameplay while Mass Effect is 30+ hr.s of Incredible gameplay. Both are great and I would probably get Oblivion because it will carry you over untill you have cash for Mass effect. I like ME more but Oblivion will last you longer.

What a stupid argument ppl make..

"get oblivion cos its got 200 hrs gameplay"

You can get 200 hrs gameplay out of fuzion frenzy 2 if you play it that much, doesnt mean its a better

game...

I got both, and beleive me Mass Effect by a long shot.

1. Like 5 new monsters and the same monsters you saw before with "lord" or "greater" added to their name

2. Do you honestly expect me to go through every cave and gate in the game? for what? 20 gold and an enchanted dagger?

3. Try 5 hours.

I dont know man, there is a lot of extra stuff you can do only with higher levels. And you finished the game (EVERYTHING as you said) in about 40 hours? Impossible. Its almost about 30 hours alone to do all the factions, plus the additional nick nack side quests. Then you got the main quest on top of that.

Bethesda ****** up the ruins this time. In Morrowind you could find high level characters who sometimes had legendary weapons on them, even if you were a low level.

Long story short, get oblivion and don't even bother with mass effect until you are sick of oblivion because oblivion is superior to any non-online RPG to date. Mass Effect is sort of just completely different any way you slice it. You play Mass Effect, but oblivion is one of the only games where you will actually LIVE for a short period of time. It's so, so much more than a game. DO NOT GET MAass EFFECT before playing oblivion. Just trust me.

If your bored of shooters, I wouldn't recommend either. While they are both great games, both can be kinda shooterish. I would recommend something completely different, perhaps something like Overlord. Or a if your up for PC games, I always go back to Civ4 and GalCiv when I get bored from shooters. Or try an RTS.

If it has to be between the two of them though, I would say Oblivion, as it is somewhat less shooterish then Mass Effect, depending on your class.

I loved Mass Effect. I definitely recommend it over Oblivion. Oblivion was just too outdated for me. I went through about 2-3 hours of it and I couldnt stand another look at my character jumping in 3rd person view. I respect that this game has a ton of content and the world of Oblivion is just so huge. There is so much to do. And the story is pretty darn good. After playing it, it just wasnt for me. If you have money to blow, buy it, it's only $30 bucks. But if you're not too sure, like I was. I was very skeptical at first, then by all means, rent it first. You'll either love it or you'll hate it. I didnt hate it, I just plain didnt like it at all. You get the same face models as you encounter NPCs throughout the game, and they lack facial expression. If the game was on mute, I couldnt tell if they were mad, sad, or happy. The game looked like a port from an old-gen system. Clearly, the PC Version looked A LOT better. They dumbed down the graphics for it to be playable on the Xbox 360. And it doesnt matter if you have an HDTV, it's not going to help.

Oblivion is immense and for that it has a huge replay value. Mass Effect is great too but exploring is limited and after 3-4 playthroughs, you will find it boring.

Oblivion is a great game, but the biggest flaw was that it felt like an MMORPG in the sence that you didn't feel like you were affecting the storyline much, and also the combat is limited in its versitility. There's just more options and interesting story points in Mass Effect then there are in oblivion.

I would rather have bird flu than play Oblivion again. That game was so endlessly boring, and I have a special hatred for games that leave you completely and utterly lost as soon as you venture out into the main game, etc. Mass Effect on the other hand, is fantastic.

Agreed. Not to mention the outdated graphics. Watch your character in 3rd person, jump. Just a scary sight to see. The world of Oblivion is huge but who wants to walk through endless terrain? You dont come across a house or a city for miles. 40 hours of Mass Effect is far greater than 150 hours of Oblivion. I dont care if a game gives you 300 hours of gameplay or more. Quality over quantity.
