Alright, first of all, Oblivion is not a fast leveling game. You won't be level 20 anytime soon, so I'd say slow down and try to enjoy it. Regardless of that, you only level when you continue to improve major skills. And then, you have to level any major skill ten times to be told to sleep.

About vampirism, I here that your stronger and such on... Don't know much, 'cept that you need to drink blood rather constantly to keep you character safe to come out in the sun. And yes, like the old vampire stories... You can get killed by sunlight, unless you keep you blood thirst low... By.... Drinking blood. Hoorah!

make sure the attributes you are leveling up are your main ones.  you meed to level them up at least 10 times to raise your whole level.  and when i say ten times it can be any combo of your main attributes.  like you can level one 5 times and 5 others once or whatever.

if your a warrior casting heal all the time it wont ever raise your level (unless Restoration is a main skill).

and about being a vampire. dunno.  there is so much to do in this game i'm doing multi play through's and have yet to let myself become a vampire.  i hear that if you work it right you can use it to have higher then 100 in some of uor stats.  like strength or endurance.

good luck, great game.

I'm 50 hours in and only level 7, so yeah that sounds ok. I'm been playing it quite leisurely.

Theres a Faq here that you can get that explains vampirism. It seems to make the game a bit harder because many people won't talk to you, which means there are quests you won't get to play. You also can't move anround much in the daylight, and fast traveling is dangerous. On the plus side there are many new powers and abilities that come the longer you go without feeding, but unless you plan on using them to their full potential I wouldn't bother doing it. There is a cure but it is kind of a pain. Remember also, if you plan on becoming a vampire. then cure yourself, you won't get the chance again. So it's either all out or nothing IMO.

i hated being a vampire. it was a real pain trying to feed. the difference in power is not worth the blood hunting. there is a cure though so mabey you should try it out, who know you might injoy being a vampire.

as for leveling up, the fastest way it to get people to train your major combat skills and work on things like illusion and speechcraft which are fairly easy to level up. i got to like level 34 after like 150 hours.

Like previously stated, Oblivion is not a fast leveling game (unless you try), and in truth, if you want your character to be as strong as possible, then you shouldn't try to level up quickly. It's not like a traditional RPG with generic experience points.

Use your minor skills before your major skills. Look at the attribute that governs each minor skill, and decide which three attributes you would like to raise when you gain the next level. (For a warrior/melee character, this is almost always strength, endurance, and something else of your choosing.) Then use any combination of your MINOR skills governed by that attribute a total of ten times to get a bonus to that attribute when levelling up. It sounds confusing but you'll figure it out and then it becomes quite simple.

For example, my warrior Nord had Blade, Block, Heavy Armor, Armorer, Illusion, Restoration and Speechcraft as his major skills. To make sure I got the highest bonus to my most important attributes (strength and endurance) I would level up minor skills such as Hand-to-Hand and Blunt a total of 10 times, other minor skills for whatever third attirbute I wanted to raise, and then Armorer, Heavy Armor, and Block. Using this method, I have strength and endurance 100 by level 10.

Do it!  Thing is, you never know when you might become tired of this game.  I accepted almost every single quest I was offered, including becoming a vampire.  When you can only travel at night, you'd better be riding a horse (I don't know, maybe Shadowmere?) and you have all the time in the world to burglarize houses and kill people, as long as it's dark.  It's fun.  It'll get old, but it's worth a try.  If you marry the pale lady, I hear she's got a fridge full of human blood.

As far as leveling, just keep doing what you're doing.  If you want to level up fast, start doing the stuff that your class is based on, use those major skills.  Also, try not to commit genocide in any of the towns.  I got frustrated with the guard in Bravil and now everyone there, including the royalty, is dead.  It's a lonely place to visit now.

You can't marry anyone, and for becomining a vampire it's really annoying feeding and not being able to get out in sunlight if you don't feed.

Doesn't sound like you understand the leveling system. You shouldn't level up fast, you should level up smart. Sometimes that takes more time. I learned the hard way my first time through but I'm gonna go back and do it right next time.

i have played 12 hours and im lvl 7.......have a friend who has played for 40 hrs..and he is lvl 18-22 ( dont remember exactly but..is around there ).....

Vampirism.....right now im gathering all the items to stop becoming one....PROS...improves alot of things...endurance..willpower..resist...etc etc......CONS..most time you have to travel by night, unless you are sucking blood everytime.....sun can kill you very fast in advanced lvls of a vampire...if you havent feeded with blood..some people will not talk to you.......

i prefer NOT being one....

I am currently playing through Oblivion on the 360 and have encountered a wierd glitch. I am an Emperial, very early on in the game my character contracted the 'brown rot' disease. At that time I didn't know how to cure diseases so I really didn't bother, after having the disease for a while, my whole characters body turned brown and rotten. Eventually I cured the disease, now my characters body is still brown and rotten with a white face, looks kinda dumb, no amount of curing will fix the problem of my character looking stupid. Just wondering if anybody knows if this is supposed to happen or it's a glitch? Any idea's would be appreciated.

well the good thing is that you can level up easily and the bad thing about it is that you cant' see when you can level up and the good thing about the game is that they did good with the battles and they made the game were you can focus on the enemy when your fighting and you whats really good about the game is that you can go into dungeons and you can fight the warriors in them and you can see ghosts and you can talk to them ans you can here them say what your supposed to do and when you do it you can find even more ghost warriors.

you can find a ghost warrior in a dungeon and fight him and you should have the ability to talk to someone and you can use an antidote in the menu and on to your character.

You have to raise any of your major skills in any variant 10 times to level up, and about the vampirism question, it may look convenient to you but as you advance in it you'll really regret getting it and you'll have to go through the Cure for Vampirism quest which can be a pain in the @$$ in some parts, so you shouldn't really become a vampire. That's just my advice though, choose your own path (on the vampirism situation).
