I'm interested in buying Oblivion.  I have two questions.  Is the combat similar to Zelda, Doom style, or like the Final Fantasy series where you just order your character to attack?  Second question is the on-line play.  What can you do?  Thanks

The flight style is first-person and not turn-based like JRPGs. There is no on-line play, it's a single play RPG..

It's all first person, and you control everything in the combat. Blocking, attacking, casting spells. The only online features that Oblivion has is heafty downloadable content, new quests, and the new Shivering Isles expansion pack. It's an amazing game, do yourself a favor and pick it up.

It's not all first person. You have the option of changing the camera on the fly to 3rd person.

Yeah, but the game wasn't built to operate like that.

3rd person in oblivion is terrible.Gameplay is not your standard fp rpg.You can swing melee weapons, block with them, and use magic, staves, and bows in the most realistic large environment that you will probably ever find in a videogame.I would definitley recommend buying it.You can't really compare it to the games that you mentioned or any others because its just so unique.Better than Morrowind by a long shot.A must own 360 game...

This game is just amazing!  You can go anywhere do anything at anytime.  The thing I like most is that power leveling will get you killed.  The higher your level the harder the game.  You can choose third or first but the third person veiw is kinda crappy and thats an unbiased opinion, I prefer third person games.  The first time I played this game I walked around for hours just treasure hunting, really hours, and I didn't see the same people or places twice.  The game is HUGE.  how does 200 hours sound to you.
