They'll lie since practically there is no way to verify it. GameSpot doesn't really plan on even caring if they are carrying their actual GTs in sig, and there's honestly no reason for them to care. Also, this is the internet and anonymity is virtually guaranteed. However, one could attempt to contact the GT on Xbox LIVE and find out further inquiries.99% of them are probably legit. Why would someone lie about something so stupid?

Who cares. I bet most people are like me, who don't even look at other peoples GT or care about their GT scores.
Only GT I know from GS are the ones I've played with.

Mine is legit and I don't really care if somone is using a fake one. It's kind of sad to do something like that.
how many of them actually belong to the GameSpot user? On Mygamercard.net it is practically effortless to produce a gamercard of whoever's gamertag you want, and does no checks to see which gamertag you really have. Some here may not even have an Xbox LIVE account at all. I also observe most of the gamertags in the signatures here are of high numbers and more often than not are higher than my formidable 11,100. NicAgentWow, just wow. I really hope you are joking. For one, why would any care enough to do that? Then, what if the real owner were to see it and bust them? That would be pretty embarrassing. And, 11,100 is anything but formidable. I got my 360 on the release date in 2005. That's four years ago. If I were to complete not even 3 games a year I would have your "formidable" gamerscore beat. Even if they didn't belong to the person who is posting, these accounts still exist and they belong to someone, and they still beat your amazing gamerscore. And last of all, why do you even care?
would would anyone lie? and 11,000 is not that goodchaoscougar1ehhh mistaken! he has 11,100.. and whats the point of having a fake one? who cares bout gs? people who show their gt either want to be added, prove they have an account or to show off something they think they dont want to but in reality they do...

NicAgentHAHA, I has better gamerscore than you. :P My Gamertag is mine. You're right, no doubt there are people who troll though. Maybe in System Wars.
I don't see a point in making a fake one, in a way I guess its to please yourself. Thinking about it who even sees a game tag on a sig and thinks more than 3 seconds about it? Shouldn't you save it for when you see it on the X-Box Wii or Playstation? Really the people that make a fake tag don't even need to be called out, if they made one I'm betting they have enough problems as it is no need to make there life any worse.
^ Totally agree with this guy. I would bet that unless this starts a trend no one has ever faked a gamertag on here. Most people just want to show what they are playing, and get adds if anyone else is playing the same games.I don't see a point in making a fake one, in a way I guess its to please yourself. I've had mine since December 2nd 2005. Usually if someone has a higher GS than you it just means they've had their 360 longer or play it more than you do. But yeah, my GT in my sig is mine. I'm watching a HD-DVD at the moment then I'll be playing some Shadow Complex. I finished Fable 2 last night.

[QUOTE="x-2tha-z"][QUOTE="Next-Gen-Tec"] People have fakes Gamertags, but only in System Wars. It's quite funny actually.Next-Gen-TecWhy do they have fake tags in their sig? To give them "credit" so they can troll and bash the 360. I haven't seen anyone doing it lately though.
I totally forgot about that. LoL I remember PS_John. That was classic.

And no, I don't think that a higher GS necessarily means they play more - players who focus primarily on online multiplayer tend to have much lower gamerscores than those that prefer single player, mainly due to developers tendencies to focus their achievements for offline play to avoid achievement boosting. COD4 and COD:WAW are most like this, with all their GS either single player or cooperative Nazi Zombies.
I use my gamertag as my gamespot username and the username for many other things like my name on Steam, so it's definitely mine. Is that really your gamertag?
I also observe most of the gamertags in the signatures here are of high numbers and more often than not are higher than my formidable 11,100. NicAgent
Also, think about it dude, you're on a website dedicated to gaming. Therefore, most people on here will be gaming enthusiasts and I'm GUESSING they play a lot, hence scores that are quite high.
I've only had my 360 for about 2 months and along with finishing both my majors in college and working full time, I really don't have time to pursue those little achievements here and there. I could care less about gamerscore, so I'm perfectly content with my 1600 :)

I don't think your point is valid because the COD games are the only online shooters I can think of that have mostly campaign achievements, and are popular enough to be considered relevant. Yes, if someone only ever plays COD online they will have a low gamerscore. Thanks for pointing that out, Mr Obvious.
You just go to mygamercard.net and type in your Live screen name and it generates the code that you have to put in your signature.can I be a noob real quick......................How do u get one?
