Here's the deal, I'm 50 and love video games (I'm currently playing WaW on XBox Live and love Capture the Flag) but am handicapped. My reaction time is not as quick as an 18 year old so at the start I'm at a disadvantage. I have worked my way to level 65 so I have a lot of weapons, perks, etc to arm myself with but wanted to ask some of you experienced users your thoughts and suggestions. It seems like even though I am shooting at someone they can run up and knife me or start shooting back and end up killing me. I know about Juggernaut and it may be that I am just missing them but come on - I'm shooting someone and they run up and knife me? I have a fast internet connection (AT&T U-verse) so I just don't know how sometimes I get killed a lot even though it just doesn't seem right. Does anyone else experience this? I know I don't get enough head shots and I'm working on improving that but for the most part I just camp by our flag and defend it. I don't care to keep score I just want to play for fun. I have met a lot of nice people from all over the world but of course there are those immature whiners who always have to brag about how good they did. I guess it's easy to be like that when you're not face-to-face. What I have is a class for sniping, one for anti-tanks, and one for close-up battles like in the asylum. Please share how you arm yourself, your favorite class, etc. and any tips for playing that you have discovered on your own. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Oh, one thing that I noticed was someone was shooting with a pistol (KillCam) but it fired like a machine gun! I guess they had a modified controller. Are there other cheats like that that someone can use in the game? Is there something that can make aiming for the head better?

I have the headset and you are right - it helps a lot. I do get tips that way too. I've played Co-Op and although it's fun I like playing Capture the Flag. I've even been able to capture it a few times too! hahaha Thanks

Going to go play right now! I've only been playing for a few months and really like it. Another thing I have to do is train my left index finger to stop pressing the trigger so much. I guess it's a bad habit but I do it and then it's hard to quickly move the gun because your looking down the barrel.

Don't know. I guess you could try sniping as it's safer for you and you can pick out your targets.

Take your time to aim. It's very crucial to you getting your kills and assisting your teammates that you aim before you shoot, when you start to shoot, and while your shooting. Also, try to aim for the head, because your opponent will 9 times out of 10 be moving around, and you want to kill him as quick as possible, and as easily as possible, so take the time to get a good aim on their head. And another good tip for hitting moving opponents is to make sure you shoot a little bit in front of them, so you hit them more often. They pretty much walk into the bullets. So if you shoot a well-aimed headshot burst 3 feet in front of your opponent, then do it again, you have yourself a downed man. All you have left to do is finish him off, unless he takes the coward's way out. But be careful, some people are very good in last stands. Also, keep good communication with your teammates. This helps dramatically, and can really give you the advantage over your opponent. Keep them updated on yours and your opponent's location, what weapons they/you have, and what they/you are doing. And make sure you pick the gun that's right for you. Take some time and really try out each gun. Weigh the pros and cons, and try to fight a gun you like the best. And manage your perks well, also. Martyrdom is a real ***** and still gets kills on even experienced players. Very reccommended. Good luck, hope I could help! ^.^ Feel free to add me: I MLG BacoN I.

Lately I've seen a lot of people using the shoot from the hip perk and not even aiming. Just shooting without aiming is obviously faster andmay give you a slight advantagewhen you just run up on someone. It seems to work well for them, but whenever I try it, it usually doesn't come out to well for me!

You just gotta keep playing. After a while you will get used to it all. Try to learn a few gun weaknesses (range, fire rate, etc.). Then you will be ready for combat. As for the classes just use what you feel most comfortable with. I dont have an offical Anti-Tank class, because I'm usually moving so much that a bazooka would just slow me down.

Thanks for all the replies. I have got to practice more on my aiming because I get very few head shots, even though I try hahaha. Good point about finding the right balance on the weapons - they have to match my goal for the mission at hand. For example, when I play Makin, I have a class with the PTRS, camouflage, and 2 Bouncing Betties (so no one can sneak up on my back). I can lay low and go mostly undiscovered and get many kills while protecting the flag. After my first kill I steal the dropped weapon and use it if I can. When I get killed I usually move to another spot because I'm usually discovered at that point anyway (obviously). I really like playing when other communicate. I was in one game and the "leader" of our squad was really good. He organized, commanded, and helped us all achieve the common goal. That was very helpful and the motivation helped achieve several successful missions. Even when we knew we were going to lose he still said have fun. That was a very good gaming experience. Thanks again everyone and I'll keep posting my progress and appreciate your input. I'm rwright142 on XBox Live if anyone wants to add me. i like playing Capture the Flag and the missions with the tanks. Heck, I got a 20 kill streak in the tank hahaha I know, easy to do, but it still made me feel good.

you have to remember not to take it personal. people have been playing alot longer than you have, dating back to previous first person shooters and even call of duty 4. i got 4 when it first came out and i got WaW when it first came out as well.. i personally like 4 better. but... WaW does have it's pro's. like they say, as you play more you'll get better. use silencers and uav jammer and you should be pretty good.

another thing... if you were to play hardcore mode, it's alot easier to get kills. i love hardcore, i think its more "fair" and you can be more tactical. most people dont like hardcore, and i know you like CTF, but if you work together as a team, preferably with people you know, its a good thing. what type of weapons do you like most? smgs, shotguns, snipers, etc?

If you think Call of Duty is bad don't play Gears of War 2. Shoot a guy while he is on the ground defense less, twice, and he gets up and one shots you. Yeah, no 18 year old reflexes are going to fix that.

Slow reaction? Your best bet is a powerful machine gun. In any case you should play defensive whenever you can, and you'll climb the XP ladder in not time! I'm sure there is stuff out there that can excercise and improve your reaction times as well.

I'll check out hard core, thanks. I'm not about scoring so I don't care if I get a lot of kills but I like getting the important kills. For example, in CTF I can defend our flag and kill anyone that comes close. I like that. Sometimes I only get 1 or 2 kills in a game but that may be the difference between winning or losing. I use the MP40 and PTRS mostly. I have bouncing bettys too. When I play against tanks I have a sticky grenade and a bazooka with 2 rockets so I can destroy a tank if one is a nuisance hahaha

Did you get the maps? If so how do you like them? I am only playing on the original one and I downloaded the free Makin one.

A powerful gun with lots of ammunition and quick reload! hahaha I do play defensively but thanks for the tip anyway. I'm just not as quick as most that I play with so I have to be sneaky (stealthy) and snipe them or find other ways to get them. I did surprise 3 at once and was able to move and knife 2 of them before the 3rd shot me. I'm no good on the Dome map though - it's too small and you have to be quick there.
