You really should of just muted the guy telling you to shut up. That will make it so he can't hear you and you can't hear him.
i mean whenever a person with a annoying voice starts talking they go "shut the hell up" and crap! i mean this used to happen to me but my voice got deeper and it was annoying everytime i tried to say somthing some deep voice guy says "shut up" then i gett booted sometimes. people cant help having high voices!goshkarugukinywa
I'm sure it has nothing to do with you being annoying.
Wow its the "gosh" guy. Wasnt it you on here a couple weeks ago complaining about this. Anyways the reason people tell you to shut up is because:
first: You have an annoying voice and you won't stop talking
second: You 13 years olds think you are the greatest at everything. The only reason you are decent is because you don't have a job, you arent in a serious relationship, and you likely don't have loads of homework to do after school. Im not just assuming this, I have a 13 year old brother and thats exactly the way he is....Gosh
From all my XBL experience most 'old' people don't say anything when there's someone with a high-pitched voice. They say something when that person keeps constantly talking or says something annoying...So I don't feel bad for you at all. Mayb think about what you're going to say before saying it, question whether or not everyone else really needs to hear itScarface_tm431
Exactly, you guys come on and start singing and start trash talking or somthing and your obviously one of those people or else you wouldnt be here complaining about it.
im a 14 yr old and ppl say i sound 18 i know i hate when little kids are talking smack but if u ask me older ppl start these fights. i have a younger friend on live who doesnt talk smack but when ever he says something he'll get told to shut the hell up so i think adults should look at themselves insted of judging all of us. also i dont think you should be over 30 yrs old and be playing video games and if u are dont play them every day and dont be browsing gamespot its pathetic

Wow, Im only 18 and am offended by what you just said. The fact that you just called all 30+ year old gamers pathetic is exactly the reason why people are always telling you guys to shut-the hell up. You need to think about what you say cause the fact that you just said that is absolutely disgusting!
I would love nothing more then to draw every 30+ gamer on Gamespot to your post.

I'm 18, but what you said is ridiculous. Are you trying to tell me that there's an age limit for what someone does as a hobby? And hey, if you want to play the 'age' thing if you're 14 you shouldn't be playing M games

Well get ready to see more of us pathetic 30+ year old gamers brainiac. We were among the first full generation to grow up around gaming and are now entering that age range. That is why you haven't seen many of us but you will notice we are becoming more prolific.
As I said before think of what you are saying that is causing people to tell you to shut up and not how your voice sounds.
If you make half as many stupid statements online as you did above I would tell you to shut up too.
Beat it over kid, if you come on a lobby talking crap all the way or with a stupid background noise, of course everyone will tell you to shut up and mute you.
Stop telling older people has a "conspiracy theory" against all youngsters because that aint true, stop being childish and saying the typical "everyone wants to unlock some achievements" "nice kill" and any other crap like that.
Just say what is needed to say, like "V21 go to gunner seat" "they're all at the balcony" "X is going to zerg your base", it's only talk relational with the game and situation/tactics.
here is the scenario everyone is thinking of.
You get into a game, let's just say for example you're playing Halo 3, and your playing Team Doubles. You partner happens to be someone who sounds... younger, and has the urge to say something whenever an event happens... all the way down to where he's standing right after he moves. Or the fact that the grenade shouldn't have killed him. That this is BS and he's getting pissed. That he just pwned that guy with a sniper rifle. That he just pwned that guy with the sword. That he just raped that other guy with an assassination. That he just "SHUT THE **** UP!! SHUT - UP! STOP TALKING FOR THE LOVE OF WHATEVER GOD YOU HOLD TRUE YOU STUPID *** KID!!"
Of course you recieve the usual response, which is he's 18, or 19, or that you should shut up and just start talking more.... yeah, that's right.
Anyway, I only bring this up because I just got done playing some H3, and this exact scenario happened. He didn't stop talking for the entire game, and it was just really annoying to slab that on top of the fact that he kept rushing into battle against 2 players, then blamed me when he died, saying I should have helped him... I'm not running to my death, I'll wait for them.
Anyway, the same thing happened on CoD4, except I couldn't mute the bastard who happened to be SINGING. Yes, he was SINGING, and I couldn't mute him without completely pausing the whole game, going into my Xbox Dashboard, and muting him via his profile, and I was doing really good, so I decided not to.
For 15 minutes staight I would have had to listen to him, but I managed to just take out my mic... but of course he started coming through my stereo now, and it's even worse, so I turned my mic back on, put it under my pillow, and played the game.
If I can judge an entire age group of people by a few, and by a few I mean roughly over 300 in total that I've ever played with, then yes, all kids on Xbox live you be put in their own server area or sent to hell.... one of the two. Maybe they'll annoy each other so much they'll have an opiphony.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot! You can be below the age of 17 and have an Xbox Live account, right? So why don't video game companies take action and enforce this stuff? You know, if you're using an Xbox Live account, but your 13:
"Oops, looks like this 13 year old is trying to play a M for Mature rated game... well, sorry, you're using an under-aged account. You cannot play this title unless you're 17 or older, or unless you go to our website and fill out the "Parent Permission Document" for the game in question you wish to play online. Thank you for understanding."
THAT WOULD MAKE ME SO HAPPY. Of course people would try and lie, but then all M$ would have to do is add a little feature where you can accuse someone of using false information, like with the Feedback tool. M$ will take a look at the info, see if it all checks out, and if it doesn't, BAM, instant jail/juve-time. Because falsifying information is illegal kids, and whether you know this or not with your hundreds of falsely informed subscriptions to god knows what, it's illegal.
Anyway, yeah, great topic btw. I hope it gets a ton of attention. And I hope that one day, when console developers grow some balls, they'll start enforcing their rules. You know, like any store you ever go to, or Movie Theaters, or pretty much anything else. That would probably be the greatest gift anyone could ever ask for.
LOL....Pathetic? I'm 28 and plan on gaming way past my 30th birthday. If that makes me "pathetic in your 14 year old eyes..then so be it. You should really think before you stuff your foot in your mouth. If not for those 30+ gamers out there, you wouldn't have consoles and games to play.also i dont think you should be over 30 yrs old and be playing video games and if u are dont play them every day and dont be browsing gamespot its pathetic

35 here and your a hypocrite, you just said "i think adults should look at themselves insted of judging all of us" yet then you say "i dont think you should be over 30 yrs old and be playing video games and if u are dont play them every day and dont be browsing gamespot its pathetic" Who is judging who now? You are the typical knucklehead on xbox live.

Our generation helped to legitmize gaming as a form of entertainment. Most of us who are 30 or older have been playing games for over 25 years. Who do you think are making these games, anyway? 14-year olds? It's the same for those reviewing these games. If teenagers did it, there would only be two scores, 1.0 and 10.0. (some exceptions, of course).
I have friends in their LATE 30's that still play, and in at least one case, my 34-year old friend's FATHER plays. I'm also a homeowner, a husband, and have a healthy career. I'm also a part-time student. I know how to prioritize my time. You should be happy we are still playing. It makes the outlook of YOUR gaming future brighter.
Actually, all of the loud mouthed little "1337" kids burping and screaming "owned" every other breath is the main reason that I refuse to wear a headset. In my opinion, it completely ruins the experience, and makes it very difficult to concentrate on the game itself. And the game itself is why people should be there to begin with, not to chit-chat, and listen to cursing, burping, heavy breathing and adolecent trash talk. ironcreedYeah, I rarely use my headset anymore. I only take it out if I'm playing with one of friends, and even then we just go into private chat.
You little kids are more annoying than older people. You guys go on screaming at the top of your lungs and constantly singing in a game and annoy the hell out of other gamers in the same game. You people ruin the experience and i question your parents for letting you play a mature rated game when your not even 17. You guys ruined the experience on halo 2, you ruined the experience on Gears, you ruined the experience on Halo 3 and you ruined the experience on COD4. All us older guys want to play is just a good game online and thats it. We don't want to be bothered by you loud mouthed little kids that don't know how to shut up. You guys are also a reason why i don't talk much on live either just like other people have stated.
/end rant.
I'm 28 and I never use my head set when my friends aren't on. Every day I'll be in a game where some kid will be running his mouth, annoying me and most of the other players. I'm not saying all young kids are like this but 90% of the time the gamers that talk trash before, during and after the game are 15 or younger. If your good your stats will do the talking. Anyway if I'm being picky, I'm sure halo 3, gears of war and call of duty 4 have a 16+ rating (or atleast 15) so you youngsters shouldn't even be on it anyway :P
i mean whenever a person with a annoying voice starts talking they go "shut the hell up" and crap! i mean this used to happen to me but my voice got deeper and it was annoying everytime i tried to say somthing some deep voice guy says "shut up" then i gett booted sometimes. people cant help having high voices!goshkarugukinywa
Not to pile on here, but you're not getting any younger either, you know. One day when you're 20 or (gasp) 30 something years old and you're playing some online game and being annoyed by kids, you'll understand. And you'll tell them to shut the hell up, too.
They need to implament age oriented profiles so that adults can select an "adult only" box when creating and joining games.
trying to play halo2 on xbox live pretty much killed the entire xbox live experience for me.
I am 25 and one of the first toys I can remember playing with is an Atari. If it were not for older gamers there wouldn't be any games at all.
I dont mind younger kids playing on xbox live, as long as they are not screaming at the top of there lungs every second. I have soem younger dudes on my friends list who are younger and they are more mature then alot of the older people you meet online.
Its wrong to say ALL younger people or ALL older people are annoying or that they fit into one category.
